Lead plates have been removed from vendors, but they can still be found in large quantities on the island if you actively search. NPCs can also drop them.
Thanks for the info, I still wish they where purchasable from the trader. I've spent 60-80hrs in game since update and have only come across a dozen or so partial plates (i even have the loot turned up). Been actively looking for them in the regular spots they use to be for the last few times I've been playing and i end up using more then i can craft
There is another in-game mechanic to obtain lead plates that has existed in SCUM for quite a while...
If you loot or otherwise obtain a car battery you can place it on the ground, and if you have the appropriate blunt tool you can break the battery into lead plates (press and hold "F" while looking at the battery and a menu will appear with this option). You will not get many of them, but it works in a pinch if you are a few short.
