SCUM
Hoping the incoming anti-cheat update finally cleans up official servers
I reinstalled the game recently, hoping the situation had improved. After two weeks on an official server, it’s obvious the cheating problem is still out of control, mainly Chinese players using alt accounts to avoid bans. Really hoping the incoming update finally addresses the cheating problem and brings some much needed balance to officials.

there is only one anti-cheat that can work and that is having an admin that cares to begin with, why do people think a machine with no understanding of life can tell if someone cheats in a game or not.

A minority of private server administrators understand cheaters. With all the consequences that entails.

Hi Core, serilium,

I agree; however, there are many elements of cheating that non-human systems can detect immediately and manage without human intervention. With that said, mistakes can be made and there must be an appeal process for those that may have been mistakenly identified.

Ultimately, automated systems (AI or otherwise) are only part of what is needed to mitigate the cheating issues in any game. As an admin, access to these additional tools is what will make a real difference. Through these tools (including automated systems that flag suspicious activity) an admin can make informed decisions more efficiently, leading to an improved game experience for all players.

We shall see what 1.0 will deliver, but even if it (somehow) completely eliminated cheating at the time of release, the system will need constant adjustment and additions to keep up with evolving cheat programs and human ingenuity. It is an arms race of sorts.

I just hope it doesn't flag legit players and allow the cheaters to remain!

Hi CrankyOldMan,

My greatest fear right now is running SCUM for the first time after the new anti-cheat is released, only to be greeted by a game ban or something similar shortly afterwards on our own server. Hopefully this will be tested thoroughly before being released!

the biggest abjection of this game is that,in every popular official server, you only find chinese players..99 % of EU players quitted official servers, especially after the last wipe..there is no return on this,as far as they buy new accounts when they got banned!GGs on official servers!

I've been gaming online for over 20 years and I've yet to see an "anticheat" that works with any level of efficiency.

The best method to eradicate cheaters is a well admin'ed community server. Officials usually have no admins and rely on the software. That's with any game.

If there's no cheaters, the game probably isn't popular. Cheaters are attracted to popular games with more people they can irritate.
