SCUM
Does skill level progress itself do something?
Here's the detailed question about it.

Lets say, 3 eople have an Awareness skill level of Expert.

One person has 1% progress to the next level, the other 99%, and a third person does have 100%.

Do the person with 99% and 100% progress have a bonus to whatever Awareness does, compared to the person with 1%?

Or in other words, do only full levels matter, like from "advanced" to "expert", or does the % that you have in progress also alter the effectiveness of whatever the skill in question does?

If so, since "Expert" is the max, is there a difference between, lets say an Expert in Awareness who has 0% progress (just leveled up that skill), and an Expert who is stuck on 100% towards the next level?

Yes, there are differences. One of the best examples is the Running skill. The higher you level up, the more speed you get in the end. A difference of 1% isn't really noticeable. But it is at 0%, 50%, and 100%, so at greater distances.

Awareness is responsible for identification, i.e., the highlighting of objects in focus mode, for example, which then briefly glow with a blue shimmer. It's also used in the hunting event, where the perception ranges are increased for clues.

Hi Bnn1,

Yes, skills advance in line with the levels, meaning the benefits are lower at, say, 10% advanced versus 100% advanced. I wrote a message a while ago as to what the benefits of each skill are and my opinions as to which were most important. The information can be found here:

not all skill progress equally and some skills are just not worth bothering with at all, for example farming and cooking along with camo are skills probably almost no one uses, i nearly always start with these 3 set to no skill and even at a basic level i don`t notice any difference at all, flying is another skill that is question able sure becoming advanced does indeed have a benefit, but you still can`t land in a forest or in a town easily and look at the effort required to go from no skill to advanced, is it really worth it, useful skills seem to include driving, running and stamina, melee and most weapon based skills, i know a skills rework is planned for after 1.0 but that is like me picking out a coffin only for fate to decide i die in a way where my body can`t be recovered, and will the new lay out be better and work better for players.

Thank you very much Developer! This was exactly the answer, but I marked the Answer of the community member Sarah as the correct answer as to favour and include the community more, I hope this is no issue.

You both was amazing helps as was the third person to post as well, everyone helped me greatly!

Hi Bnn1,

Deathwhisper is very much part of the community and deserves credit for this one! You can easily undo the "answers the question" tag and give her credit where credit is due.

If I remember correctly from 2024 when I played alot, Camo makes you invisible and ties in with a ghilly suit so that if you stay still people can't see you on the map through their binoculars. It removes you from existing in the game.
Hi I Am Legend,

I thought I would jump in before anyone runs (crawls) off to maximise camouflage.

The camouflage skill was essentially removed (nerfed) from the game some time ago and has no effect currently. I did not know this when I maximised it last summer, and, since maximising the skill requires endless crawling around the map in bushes I do regret spending the (seemingly endless) time doing so!

So now it doesn't remove you from render distance from other players?
Raykits .96 video goes in depth on Camo again, seems it still works as intended? Its only 2 months old.

crawling is part of the sleath skill, camo is you lying down in the grass not moving at all, i did know it got nerfed but i don`t know if the devs done anything with it since.

Hi serilium,

While I was maximising the stealth skill by crawling around the map I noticed that the camouflage skill was also gaining, but at a slower rate (as I remember, camouflage was increasing only when moving through bushes was involved). I had no idea that you could simply lie down in grass and do nothing to gain camouflage and I thought an action had to be performed in order for anything to be counted. At this point I can not test to see if this works for me (I already maximised it) but if it does work it would seem to me to represent unintended behaviour based on the description of how camouflage is gained.
