SCUM
Help me to love this game....
I love open world survival games... Ark, 7days, Rust, Soulmask, Conan Exiles.... hundreds or thousands hours I played in them....

I see this game loved by people, very positive reviews and anytjing - so something must be wrong with me: I just cannot bear the inventory management / crafting system in ths game.

And long time ago, I had scum. I'm mostly PVE, tried it on server but one thing killed me: the inventory systems and the constant tetris struggle in the backpack.

Tried the game couple months ago - a friend invited me to try again - but after a half an hour of gameplay my PTSD kicked in and run away.....

So: is it just me, and will this aspect of the game be better later on? Or if it does not change fundamentally - what is soo good in this game what worth the eternal struggle with the inventory?

Please, sell me the game, I want to enjoy it :)

Hi lammaer,

The Devs mentioned an "Inventory rework" in some recent posts (see below, bold added by me), and from what they said, it appears that this will eventually be introduced into the game. I do not know if they mean for the upcoming 1.0 release or not (given priorities), but they are certainly aware that improvements can be made. Personally, I find the current crafting system to be fine, but inventory management is a little awkward, especially when those dreaded "to be sorted" boxes get full. Most of the others in my squad just drop things in there for others to handle - usually me!

Thank you kindly for the extensive post. We'll definitely look into the issues that you've mentioned and we'll introduce balancing if we find it necessary.

As for the inventory spaces of backpacks that you've mentioned, it is entirely possible that we'll be balancing those out and modifying them as we'll be nearing the full release of the game. There's also a whole inventory rework that is in the works that might influence this as well.

We'll be looking into the turrets as well, we're still gathering feedback on this feature and we'll introduce necessary changes if need be.

You've mentioned ''tribal'' but I assume that you were referring to the horde spawn mechanic. We've introduced changes that have affected their spawning, but as with the turrets, we're still receiving various reports and we're piecing together the findings and see if additional tweaks need to be made.

The quest system will also receive additional changes and bugfixes, and PvE will be looked into after 1.0

Hope this brings at least some clarification to the matter.

Hey everyone!

Isnt it possible to put opened packs together?
for example i'm cooking rice.. i got packs wiht 1/10 and 2/10 - cant put them together.. not even while putting ingredients into pan etc.. its such a waste.. or am i too stupid and theres a way to put them together?

thanks for helping.

Unfortunately no. The reason being the way it works in the backend, it is a bit outdated. But we have received a lot of suggestions like these and are looking into the solution with the inventory rework that will be coming.
Well.. enjoy Scum bcs it is a great and unique game in survival genre.
Once (after aprox 20h…) you think you’ve seen it all, you actualy did see it all and the rest just depends on how much you like roleplay. Then it goes up to 10-20k hours..,

After my 2k+ hours in Scum i would recomend it bcs its money well spent but if i were you i would buy Dayz and just enjoy it with all the mods and endless fun. It’s more versatile atm.

1 simple fact theres THOUSANDS of hours to be had once the modding community gets a hold of it
right now theres next to no mods but give it time after 1.0 and you will start seeing custom mods it WILL blow dayz out of the water
Hello OP :),

That's admittedly a completely different question :D. I don't know if I can make you like the game and selling it is another matter, you already have the game :).

But all jokes aside, for me SCUM has been a game to enjoy and sit back and have fun for several thousand hours.
It was and is always important to me for games that I enjoy the freedom to do what I want and SCUM has always been flexible in exactly this area.

There have been a few minor changes in the inventory area so far. For example, when you pick up items, they automatically rotate into the right position. So all you have to do here is watch Tetris.

But a lot more is still pending with the long-awaited inventory rework, which has just become the focus of the developers for 1.0 and is currently being worked on. This will bring many changes, and not even small ones, considering that the inventory is connected to pretty much everything. So it's something to be excited about.

But besides the inventory, the other areas of SCUM are definitely worth experiencing. Be it exploration (and soon a whole new look if you look at the reports on X) that the game world will be wrapped in.

So there's still a lot to look forward to as players and maybe you'd like to give SCUM another chance to let yourself fall into the game world and just let yourself be carried away by it. On a nice server with friends, the whole thing is twice as much fun. :)

Why has this rice problem been so difficult to fix?
