I think Dayz has moved from quick kills, players take more knockout damage and more hits before dying which while less realistic makes for more engaging fights.
well then put up with it, or leave

Also the pay off to not shoot you is not very high, your bag might be full of thousands of dollars of loot, it pays to just shoot you. Also if the other guy doesn't talk to you, get ready to shoot him or run away, you don't always win in this game but remember the other guy started with a stick at some stage too.
Anyway, my advice is

Not only fame points. Also a BCU and don't forget skin and delicious meat to cut steaks of. Food for the hungry survivor ;)
Stay in the woods as you travel. Open fields are your worst enemy. Watch the town you want to enter for a few minutes to see if anyone moves about. Gas stations and convenience stores are good sources for basic weapons. Towns with police stations have an increased chance of finding a weapon.
As for the geared character killing you quickly, even being equally geared it would likely turn out the same. They've modeled the weapon damage realistically, so it only takes 1 or 2 shots to kill. Most of the time it comes down to who saw who first.
As for the 3rd person peeking, they've got a system in place where you won't see players in 3rd person that you wouldn't see in 1st person. It's not perfect, and it only affects seeing other players, but it's explained in the first section of this video. Keep in mind some of the features in this have been set aside, like the ability to see the red outlines once they're out of sight.

it needs to go away
Ok I read your post. So you can't survive in a survival game. And so?
Learn it on SP, when you reach around 200-400 hours, move to online.
Until the rework of the PvE part (NPC) is not finished it's quite easy to play in SP.
Play where you like, but remember that dying is part of the game and it is a KOS game.
Well, it is entirely up to you on what server you decide to play on. Since you picked a PVP multiplayer server, things like this will happen. People have more loot as they are playing longer or they have larger squads so they gather more loot.
Also the 3rd person peeking does not work in this game, so if you are in 3rd person and you are looking behind a wall you will not see the person running towards you before he gets in your line of sight (physical line of sight).
This is not true, it may work most of the time when it comes to buildings, but you can use 3rd person peak over the top of bushes and from inside them.
its terrible
