Yes. The fast decay on non-food items is a PvP thing, to keep those players on their toes and having to go loot to either replace decayed items or search for repair kits and toolboxes to fix them with. For single player mode, it just feels wrong. Thank goodness you can adjust the .ini. Looking forward to when you can adjust the rate of weapon degradation from using them in combat, as well- weapons wear out 10x faster than they should.
just store the animal parts till your ready to use the meat, I have stored legs and torsos of a boar, wolf, and other animals for weeks of real world time without it decaying past 50% ( I usually use it by then ) and when you cut it up the meat is always 100%
