Flag needed for singleplayer?
Hi, is the flag needed to be built in singleplayer mode? I was able to built where i wanted so far without the flag but i noticed on my items that they are going to expire (barbecue and bed for example). I've read somewhere that you need to be near the objectt at least once per 72 hours for it to restart the expiration timer, but i am in my base very often and yet it says it will expire. Do i need to build the flag? And how to prevent my items dissapearing or expiring? Is it possible in singpleplayer ? thanks

Hi :)

There is no expiration timer in single player mode. A flag is especially useful if you want to repair everything at once or to e.g. to build a well.

Is there a time display under the objects?

For example if i look at the improvised barbeque i have built it says its name "improvised barbeque" and under the name it says "object will soon be expired" . And same thing happened with my bed.
So there must be some kind of expiration timer even in singleplayer if it shows it will expire soon. And also i had few things placed in my cabin on the floor or on the table etc and they dissapeared. It would be nice if you could place items somewhere and they would stay there. I understand that perhaps in multiplayer it could cause issues with performance etc, but in singleplayer it should be ok, or at least have the option to turn it on and off for example

..yeah it would be nice as you say but.. it works so that you have to maintain the built things.. as you look at them, press and hold the F key and select the maintain.. yeah.. or build a flag and that timer will reset itself for all things in the flag area.. this is how it works but I don't know if it's exactly the same as singleplayer.. but definitely things that are loot or made small items like an ax, a knife or anything else that is not a building after a while after you move away disappears.. yeah in short cut ;-) enjoy man..

For singleplayer normally you have no Decay. the items stay forever except you destroy them. thats why im asking.

so is there decay in singleplayer or no? seems like some people say yes, some people no. What the game tells me "object will soon be expired" suggests there is decay even in singleplayer. BTW i dont see any "maintain" option if i pres and hold F over anything.

I'm wondering also if a Flag will prevent puppets from spawning near by ?

This is wrong. Anything in your base that's not in a container will disappear if you leave the area for long enough. I don't know the time.
It's how I clean up.

No it does not.

No it does not.

Yes, i was refering to BB elements, and not Items in itself. :)

What I noticed in the singleplay. Without a flag I can die on my own mine. With flag we did not trigger the mine

No, the devs removed decay of these items in single player.

Here is single payer. It's the same with or without a flag.

And here's multiplayer. In multiplayer, if you have a flag, the items are refreshed each time you enter the flag zone. Base elements (walls, barbed wire, etc.) still degrade, however, and will need to be repaired.

Loot items (weapons, clothing, etc.) are the same in both. They will despawn if left for long enough after leaving the area.

I think the "object will soon be expired" message is just a glitch. I've seen other reports about it. It's usually seen in regards to buried chests when they get close to their degradation time.

i've seen people saying the same as you, that there is some long time that you need to be away from your base in order for the items to dissapear and if you come back, you "save" them from dissapearing. But i guess the time needed for the item to dissapear is wrongly coded in the game and doesn't work with the in game time but it works with the real world time? Because when i play, i am never too long outside of my base and it seems the items are there, but when i quit playing and then i start the game couple days later, all items are gone. I think this should be changed or fixed for singleplayer because it seems like the item despawn/dissapearing timer is going on even when you not play the game.

Restarting in single player is the same as a multiplayer server restart. 'Everything' is reset and cleaned up when you do.
