Hello :),

No, it does not offer a specific function in terms of protection, but it does have the advantage that you can wear it as an additional piece of clothing without having to give up slots. This means you can achieve better insulation against the cold, for example, without having to do without items of clothing or adding others.

One would think it make using a bow better for low skill player more then insulation side of it.

Like other clothing, these do not give any bonuses to handling. Although the right equipment may make life easier if you know how to use it, it is no substitute for skills, which always come from the player themselves.

The arm guard does not give any meaningful gameplay benefits, it's more for flavor.

If I remember correctly, its part of the Robin Hood men in tights costume set

Except that you have also made skill an RPG element based on the character! If you can factor in skill level of the character along with player skill level then you can certainly provide a skill buff for the wearing of archery gear.

This is similar to iron sights Vs. red dot or holographic sights without magnification. In a computer game iron sights function much like a red dot, single point of aim, so there either needs to be an accuracy penalty when using iron sights or an accuracy increase when using a red dot or holographic sight. The game DOES NOT simulate the problem of trying to focus on three different things (rear sight, front sight, and target) when using iron sights. When using a red dot in real life I only need to focus on the target. The red dot stays in focus. It resembles to me the pointing and clicking of a mouse cursor.

I would like to see an Awareness buff when using the Prescription Eyeglasses, or sunglasses in bright sunlight, or night vision in darkness. It should be harder to loot items in darkness without any sort of illumination or night vision.
