Hello :),

Server files and the topic around them is something that is planned for after 1.0 is reached and Early Access is left. Until then, the developers' focus is on developing the core game.

It’s not like there is not a simple server package used by the server providers available... https://steamdb.info/app/911460/depots/
and i really doubt that it is "harder" to host then literally any other game with dedicated server available (arma, wreckfest, farming sim, killing floor or if we go to UE4 games INS Sandstorm, squad, which has a completely same filestructure compared to scum server package https://steamdb.info/depot/403241/ etc.), so please, stop with these excuses/lies and tell us the truth, either you dont want to release the files before 1.0 because of modding/similar stuff(which is something i would kinda understand, but there are ways to prevent it), or you dont want to lose additional source of income from the server providers(which you certainly get now), but stop making idiots from us by saying that the server files are something which needs to be "focused on to develop in order to release", they already exists and they are used by the server providers for years now, i don’t really take argument like "they are not fully ready" or "they are not public ready" duh, surprise, many games have (dedicated) server support "as-is", without any guarantees/support.

just give some minimum requrements(cpu, ram, ssd, bandwidth etc.) simple guide on how to launch(basic config file, port etc.) and say that the files are released as-is without any support available, that is literally the only thing we want from you(again, it’s not like the server files doesn’t exist)

Is that one of the devs you're replying to?

How much longer is the game planned to be in early access? I'm also confused as to why dedicated servers are being withheld when they're obviously already in existence for providers to be using them lol

Q2 2025 is the planned 1.0 release date, unfortunately i really doubt that they will keep their word about releasing server files( i really hope i’m wrong about this), the additional income from(and for) the server providers is certainly not negligible, which will almost certainly lead to some community "hacking" attempts (just remember/look at what happened with dayz server files before 1.0 release)

If and when is a decision that the developers make and even if there are many good reasons to support it, there are unfortunately at least as many good reasons not to do it immediately.

Above all, publishing it would make it much easier for creators of cheats to create them and thus cause more damage, which nobody really wants.

The big picture is always difficult to see if you are not that involved, which means you tend to overlook many of the reasons that speak against it.

Be patient in this regard. As soon as the time comes, the developers will also communicate about it. Until then, let's work together with the developers on the base game so that it becomes the great thing it should be in 1.0.

Moderator. Aside from that, the 1.0 is set for Q2 2025.

Not sure what you mean? It wasn't even put into early access until 2018.

Thats alot of words to just say that the dev's are just greedy and want to make excuses for us not to mod the game. You know what stops hackers fast? Dedicated player ran servers with active admins. They will always ban cheaters far faster than any anti cheat ever will.

How are the devs being greedy by not releasing the files?????????

They do not charge us to play on the official servers.

They do not receive any money from the 5 providers of rental servers..

They have made their intentions clear for a very long time!

Server file release will be looked into after the 1.0 release.

For obvious reasons they do not want the files out there while the game is being developed period!

I too would like to see what the modders could do. I'll just patiently wait.

If it doesn't happen there are other games!

6)When will you release server files?
Also a frequent and complicated question. The game is still in Early Access. This means it is still prone to a lot of changes on all side. Releasing server files right now would be in short: a logistical nightmare. We also need to be vary of hacks and cheats. The more files we release the easier it is to develop tools for hac
k
ing the game and ruining the game experience for everyone. So not releasing server files seems logical to us for now.

If by dedicated servers you mean have we released the server files yet, the answer is no. Dedicated server however means that you have only one server hosted on a single machine.

We're looking to do so in the future.

Yeah I was just using a colloquialism lol.

I have great interest in hosting my own server, I hope to see this sooner rather than later! I'm glad to hear this; I will be purchasing copies for all of my friends the minute server files drop.
