Hello :),

To rotate an item in the inventory, as srisagerh says, you need the keyboard shortcut CTRL+mouse wheel.
To do this, drag and drop with the mouse (hold the mouse and pick up the item) and then use CTRL+mouse wheel to change the rotation.

An alternative is to place an item on the gray striped line next to inventory clothing, this will automatically place items in the inventory without you having to do anything extra.
