You may have also noticed that there is a new skill "Throwing" now active in the skill-set.
If you plan to be able to throw (if you're hunting with a spear, for instance), you should set that skill at least to beginner.
Else throwing is just a gamble.
There's two kind of throws now:
Hitting "G" will result in a quick throw in the approximate direction of the white dot that's now the crosshair.
If you hold "G", you can target a bit and place the crosshair a bit more precisely before you release "G" and throw.
With a bit of practice you will be almost as good as you've been before with the arc.
But they are okay to cull some crows as long as I don't have a decent bow that shoots fast enough for them.
It went from being too easy, to way too difficult. Only a few very dedicated players are going to bother spending the time to master invisible throwing arcs and range guessing just so they can hit something with a spear that is way underpowered anyway. Anything less than a head strike, which is very hard at any distance without any aiming aid, is utter crap for damage. Nobody is going to pack around half a dozen spears so they can whittle down a puppet with repetitive body hits, assuming they've mastered the arcane ability to even connect with all of them on a running, bobbing, kangaroo'ing target.
Spears have simply become an utter waste of time for the average player. Bows are far superior in every way, and your first gun of any kind will rightfully make you use your spears for a campfire.
