What am i doing wrong?

My controls are set to default and i tested 4 different mouses.
If i try to pull a fish, then i should be able to do so by scrolling down.
But it does not work. I also tryed to scroll in combination with shift, ctrl and alt.
The only way for me to pull a fish in is by moving the mouse rapidely, while scrolling.
After this test i let steam check my gamefiles but no changes after that.
Then i've moved to single-player mode. At first i reseted the controls to default and
it was the same at first. After some minutes the controls started working like they did
some months ago. I also tryed multiple different mouses. And then it just goes back
to not reacting at all, until i open my inventory. But the best way to get it to work is
still the "move the mouse rapidely while scrolling"-method.

Is this intended? What am i doing wrong?

Ok, after reinstalling my game, it seems, that i "just" have to scroll VERY fast, to get it to work. As i played some months ago, it wasn't that way. Is there maybe an option in the settings, wich i just don't see?

The only "settings" for fishing are the keybinds which you can re-assign to your liking. For some fish it does take quite a bit more scrolling to completely reel them in, while for some others it took a couple scrolls. We can look into modifying these values.

Please don't get me wrong. I'm not talking about difficulty. The crank of the fishing-rod doesn't move at all ! I also have tryed to set the keybinds to things like arrow up/down.
But the crank doesn't start to move. Its like the assigned keys don't react for some reason.

Every now and then i come back to the game to check things out and, what i like to do is set up a small camp, a fire under a grill and cook some fish fillets, now even with a perfect cook i puke, with or without salt, oil, in the grill or in the pan, results are always the same, puke . I play SP

I really enjoy fishing and chilling but now theres not even a purpose to do it .

In SP I also came over a bug where the fish I catched had no any nutrition values after being grilled. There were no numbers for calories, water or other nutrition values. Eating it was like eating air. It filled the stomach but was quickly absorbed for nothing.

fishing has been janky and half-baked since its creation and has not been touched or refined since. This is why i well nvm,

The thing is, that these assigned keys worked just fine for me, some months ago.
And now no matter wich keys i assigne, they seem to "don't care", if i press them^^

You said you have a fresh install, but did you also delete the saved folder as mentioned in all trouble shooting posts?
Actually, you don't even have to delete it, just rename it and let the game create a fresh one, maybe there's just some older data going crazy.
Just make it a habit after each update, patch or hotfix actually.
