SCUM

Serious question: TRICKS and TIPS on fame points and...
Building fame points and credit from scratch with a new character, or on a new server with vanilla settings is probably the most frustrating part of Scum's game play for the new player.

I know there are videos on YouTube and the like, but they are sometimes very out of date. I'm sure any new player, as would I, would appreciate a simple "quick start guide" to getting established ASAP (as soon as possible) on Scum Island.

Also if those "in the know" such as DeathWisper could check that the information in any suggestions is current and point out if something has changed, it would be so helpful. Thank you.

Obtaining fame points (or FP=Fame Points for short) is not difficult and happens completely automatically. All you have to do is literally survive, the longer the better because if you do almost anything to survive, the points will also increase.
Sometimes more, sometimes less, there are also small “boosts” that we can do ourselves to increase our fame more significantly. Taking out puppets, crafting items and structures, crafting ammunition, washing clothes, cooking and basically anything related to survival will accumulate FP.

FP for themselves are only interesting for dealers, but not essential just because you could buy something there. You can find everything you need on the island sooner or later and you will accumulate fame points along the way. One should also never forget the usefulness of home-made equipment. Here too, crafting gives you fame points and even if these weapons and useful parts are used up quickly, re-crafting is accompanied again. But it's not just the crafting but also the application. A successful balance (so basically just play the game) helps the most.

An example without much effort. One of my youngest characters that I created managed to get a good 351 FP. However, the playing time itself for the character is only around 26 hours (the only change is ToDS, Time of Day Speed which is slower) and I simply played on the island in the daily fight for survival. This even included a visit to the dealer because I really wanted the ZF and the PO rifle scope for Kar98 and Mosin Nagant as these are my two main rifles and the rifle scopes are extremely rare. I didn't rely on "luck" here. The main weapon was a UMP-45 that I received in a police station, later I focused on repairing my Kar98 that I found in the WWII bunker, whereby when I tried to find a cleaning kit I stumbled across a 69% Mosin Nagant etc. Everyday life The island is what really increases the fame and if you pay little attention to it you quickly notice how many of them can accumulate.

PvP is a "decorative accessory", at least in my opinion, because although you can earn a lot of FP here, you can also lose a lot. I mostly stay out of PvP and I often observe before I move on in another direction or I defend myself with an appropriate secured retreat etc. A fall can always happen and yes, you lose FP as a result, but that shouldn't deter you and quite frankly, Pay no attention to FP, they will grow and they will accumulate over time. Rely on the survival skills in the field and less on the traders to achieve a lot even in the short term because, that's what SCUM is all about, survival. Whoever masters this is also the master of FP.

Actually, I don't know of any shortcut for gaining fame after they took out the olive picking exploit, wich imo was the right thing to do as it just was ridiculous.
From what I read and hear, best way to build up fame is crafting and building, along with getting kills on high fp players of course, wich isn't really practical for fresh spawns. ;)
And avoid dying of course.

The fame point system imho feels so wrong in so many ways, considering that it's meant to be a representation of your popularity in the show.
I'd assume the more puppets you kill (maybe even more fp for killing puppets in a more spectacular way, or for barely surving a skirmish), raiding high tier pois, bunkers, kill boxes, basically the more you manage to entertain the masses, the quicker and faster you should earn fame.

In reality it seems the most exciting and entertaining things you do is logging trees and building walls and chests. ;b
Yeah, Scum's audience is of a special kind...

Hello there. Fame points are designed to be gained slowly and over time, a lot of activities provide some Fame points.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Hi there OP! As Deathwhisper masterfully explained, there are no shortcuts (no more olive exploit :D), fame points are designed to be acquired slowly, methodically by crafting, building, fishing, killing puppets etc. Everyday Island stuff basically.
Of course, if you happen to kill a high FP player in PVP, that also boosts your FP significantly.
Having said that, we will revisit the fame point system in regard to other upcoming features.

DG2007 and DW, thank you that's clear now. Just wondered if everyone Knew something I didn't (its usually the case lol). Just a little frustrating looting stuff to sell but not being able to buy anything, not even food and water initially, but I'll get over it. Cheers

Fishing tuna, make standard ammo, and the best way is to loot the power plant, you can get 12+ uranium in one trip, turn that into ammo and that's 300 fame.

does shooting puppets in the head with a bow and arrow still get you 10 fame points.

Thats not true! There is a shortcut how to gain fame. You need to craft CRAP bullets. Each craft ~2 Fame. Fishing gives ~1 fame per Fish.

Based on experience, nobody is running around with high Fame, so there is no hope to kill such player.

Famesystem is broken.

All, thank you for your suggestions, they are very much appreciated.

I am now concentrating just on my "revenge" server, keeping a low profile and my FP is now rising.

Would like to craft ammo but with limited carrying capacity I'm finding it difficult to gather all the components. Is it possible to dismantle ammo to covert to a different calibre?

Cheers

Garlic can be found in the houses.

On your health tab the areas in red are the wounded areas which may be giving the infection.

Many times if you just remove the clothing over the injured area the infection might go away just from your con.
Keep the clothes off until the wound is in stablization.

Fish salmon and make ammo, pretty easy.
