we will be losing the map for 1.0 release you will have to find it, possibly in pieces, around the map

And theyve also said the red dot is getting removed, gotta pinpoint your location manually.

i know a few people who have tried day-z once or twice then gave up on it, and the one reason they all say is there is no map to begin with, so they don`t know where they are or where to go in the game, now before anyone mentions external maps and the like, i`ve used external maps with scum and managed to get lost, and this does not happen if i don`t use external maps, i know the island well enough to not need a map myself but new players like me with day-z may not bother to play scum if there is no in game map to begin with, after all those who don`t want it can join servers with it turned off.

Hi, Ms. Green Label,

As we strive for maximum realism without sacrificing gameplay fluidity for the majority of players, we have chosen not to implement waypoint and zoom features on the map.

that is a VERY bad decision imo. i'm sure MANY players can agree, for a game as big as SCUM, its going to be very frustrating trying to find ur friends u convinced to play only to spend 5hrs and still not find each other nor know where u are. Many will instantly uninstall unless there is some huge hype about the game, if not and its tooo frustrating to "play", easy uninstall. We play games for fun, challenges and rewards for effort, removing map just introduces stress and no fun for most. imo.

Any update on map that you can share?

I'm not asking for leaks, only if changes to map/GPS is still on your plans.
I mean map as lootable item, not showing player position, etc.

GPS is a game changer, much more than having a map or not.

I played some games in the past where player position was not present and it gave me a totally different experience. Always looking around at the surrounding is something that change a lot the game experience.

We're unable to disclose specific details about the map at this time. However, we want to assure you that the new map/navigation system will significantly enhance the overall survival experience.

I’m okay with the map and having to navigate using landmarks, electric pylons and compass (which should be more immersive, not a hotbar).
Imagine a survival game where map shows you position, direction, waypoints.. that would be bad.
Dissorientation is a part of survival.
The other thing is that you dont need a map after xy hours in game. You memorize it (but i still get dissoriented in forest).

It’s a paper map. There shouldn’t be any GPS markers, including the “You are here” one. It would be neat to have a small zoom area, controllable with the cursor if you have a magnifying glass.

If they add GPS, zoom-able, waypoint-able map it should be on a cell phone with a battery (and maybe a undamaged sim card). Though anything on it should only be viewable on the phone and not on the HUD. And a disadvantage could be that there is no private setting for your gps marker; so use briefly at your own risk. :)

There is/was a bug that showed up like a waypoint.

waypoint fair, but red dot should go, and instead give zoom with town names etc.

playing on hardcore server with no map, I used the scum map website on second monitor and navigated using town names and compass. So imo, a findable map with no red dot is a great idea .I think tho, driving would be hard and a gps using the phone and battery to give a red dot would be needed. Idk why phones are in the game but I hope thats the reason.

the only thing map is handy for right now is if a bear springs you, I was stun locked un able to even shoot or move, hit after hit.. so.. open map to see where im about to die so I can get my gear back.
