It was asked here a long time ago if explosives and traps still work on other players but unfortunately, it was never confirmed by a developer.
Every player can lock pick anything. Player made or in-game locks. If you find a player made storage chest, you can also just drag it away or put it in your vehicle and pick the lock later.
Well, they can't kill you but if you catch them stealing your loot, I guess you could follow them and try to steal it back.
That is not correct on official PvE servers.
There are no rules on the PvE server, everything is preset by settings and you can't do certain things, there is no damage to players, you can't damage base-building elements, you can't lockpick player-made locks. Essentially the server is pure PvE and there is not a trace of PvP on the servers.
Before I jump back on one of the official PvE servers, here are a couple more questions...
1) is loot the same as normal official servers?
2) is damage from NPC's to player the same as normal official servers?
3) is damage players do to NPC's the same as normal official servers?
4) anything else different? (Metabolism, item degradation)
Maybe these official PvE servers would be more popular if we had some information about them ;)
I think they are all hardcore based on experience but would be nice to see what everything is set to
- prevent player picking of another player locks
- Prevent playuer damaging another players base elements (walls), basically to alleviate raiding
- I would like vehicles to take damage from hitting a tree (for example), but not from being shot by another player (other than self would be good).
If anyone has information on how to do this - it would be greatly appreciated.
Are the ini files for the official servers available for us to look at when setting up private servers?
One person's opinion. My opinion is the opposite. PvP sucks, SP/PvE rocks. Just adding some balance.

Those settings were changed from what I described to what xkickx described but those changes were never announced here on the forum.
And we still don't know if:
*Vehicles can be destroyed by players
*Loot table settings
*NPC Damage to player
*Player damage to NPC's
But maybe Mr-know-it-all (you) can enlighten us??
we know the official PvP servers are 100% vanilla
but need some more transparency about the official PvE server setups....
I agree. PVE, yes, very good to play!
And everyone has the freedom to choose what they want PVE or PVP. There shouldn't be an imposition.
This is literally the info I was looking for. I'm not a PvP player, I love the PvE aspect of it...You have convinced me to purchase the game. thanks!
