In terms of visuals/atmosphere or overall sound, version 0.5.13 wins by far the newest versions. ( i did not test older ones so maybe olders are even better but did not test ) also the fog/misty atmosphere appeared sometimes was EPIC for SP!
In terms of scarcity and you will die because no food at all 0.5.13 also wins. But since now we have loot tables, dumped from the game, we can configure it that way, so with this in mind newest are better because you have control over it ( from 0.9 and above ).
In terms of spawns, obviusly anyone that is not the horde update, not because the horde itself, because they destroyed a working spawn system for the sake of I don't know what server resources ( as we are talking only in Single Player ).
Outposts / merchants. Added on the 0.7... on that version you could configure them to not spawn at all so no economy/traders there. Now this is not possible, why? I don't know.
Metabolism, in the 0.6 they added injury treatment and the new rework of metabolism, also in the 0.6.17 development they added the thermal system rework.
Transportation, well vehicles for me is not important at all, the map is a bit small for some vehicles. So sorry for not covering this section.
As you can see and what I faced when I was testing all those versions, that now I have stored in my PC, all of them. As the procedure is to add then delete from versions to others, and also make tweaks on many things, you will face that older versions are better, but they lack the good and interesting implementations that they added in posterior patches. But also in those patches they deleted many things that were nice and ok or added really bad ones.... So it is a difficult choice. ( remember diahrrea, or cutting your hair? )
For me the best is 0.5 but i miss the metabolism part, you can treat everything with aloe or bands... makes no sense.... but the survival part is epic, also the puppets seemed more silent so more than once i was attacked by one without even noticing at all (that was epic).
0.6 is more mature than 0.5 and it keeps the 0.5 spirit in it and also the metabolism part is there.
Then 0.7.500 is nice because you still have all the vehicles, the old spawn system, birds, animals are there and all the new additions to the game, it just lacks but a bit of immersion that they put off, but is still there....
After this version (0.7.500) i don't really like at all. For example, with farming, food is not scarce anymore, I mean I can sit at my house and take care of the garden and thats it, I have a river next to me and nothing more to do, i do expeditions, but the survival part it is a bit gone. No birds, no animals... puppets scream like full ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... Also I loved cooking my food near a campfire in older versions.... but well its being to walltext this post....
All this is under my opinion.
My personal take on it.
EconomyOverride.json: enable-economy : 0 <------ this *should* disable the traders.
if the devs were to make 0.75 or 0.5 the 1.0 version we get to experience oooooof i would be totally disappointed....
Last 0.75

I think this would have to be the final 0.75 version of the game.
Many thanks for your help.
I do not have a favourite version personally, they all have pros and cons, etc.
Yup, with you, game just keeps getting better. Still not the finished article, but I love it.
The good old time! Everything was better before! ;)
