The crossbow is definitely a powerful tool, especially if you move quietly. However, their low rate of fire makes them vulnerable to larger groups.
Strength is the key here. The higher the character's strength, the faster the crossbow can be reloaded. Shooting while moving will also greatly affect aiming accuracy. Find a good starting position, aim and shoot the puppets. In the first person perspective you will have more success with hits, especially at the beginning, than in the third person where this is significantly more difficult.
But with practice you will be able to overcome this well, so keep training diligently and I can only recommend building up the training goals that are available in the base building, because here you can become more familiar with some weapons in order to learn a certain basic handling.

Stay calm while shooting and concentrate. Crouching can also help you initially to familiarize yourself with the weapon.
Practice makes perfect here, so practice diligently on the crossbow and, especially if you want to be able to reload faster, expand your strength. Weapon handling is done using the “Rifles” skill.
Right click once and your character goes to aiming stance.
I encourage Players to find out more about what is possible. Play around and Learn something by themself. I am well aware that Focus mode was used instead of ads (aiming down sights)
I think I have medium rifle skill or almost. I don't understand why the sight says it's at the center and it didn't even hit the target.
I'll give that a go!
I do read comments, I was just busy so I didn't get to these until now ha ha. I appreciate the help. Plus your comments could help others who are reading through too.
Ohhhhhhhh I did that for the photo to show where I was aiming ha ha. I will try again anyway just in case I did do it wrong anyway and perhaps didn't realise. So one click of right click? And I should be in first person? I will try it out tomorrow :D.
Yes, just hit rmb (right mouse button) once to aim down sight. :)
As others said, holding rmb will bring up the so called focus mode. It is a Mode where you can almost eliminate environment sounds and as the name suggests, focus on what you are searching or doing and even hearing puppets around you better. It is very usefull for me personally. It also shows compass.
Focus mode is for example very helpfull if you actively hunt in the Hunt related Events.
But the puppet I hit got grumpy and charged me on the roof XD. Will need more strategy since reloading takes too long to get a second hit.
What are hunt events? Is that animals? I can often hear them but not see them but focus mode never helped? Maybe I'm using that wrong too?
Best you can do to learn about the Hunting Event is by reading through This Patchnotes , this way you will have a detailed explanation. Also ingame is the Manual Aviable which offers aswell lots of helpfull informations. :)
