sniper rifle useless in pve
With the new zombie spawn system they killed the PVE, now when entering any POI the sniper rifles are useless everything must be at close range. They just killed an important section of weapons (for the pve)

I agree. Unless they have future plans for a system (which they should disclaim) it's a really sad thing to happen. I'm a new player and personally, I feel that there are some really bad areas of balance between fun and realism which don't make sense when also juggling unrealistic features like zombies and robots... I think the devs need to get their heads out of their arses and focus on developing content and gameplay rather than scrambling for more "funding" through DLC. Get bent CroTeam...

Sadly yes.. the bow is the main and only weapon of pve.

Hello :),

for me personally so far less. In PvE, long-range scopes like the M82 scope were never very useful unless you used them as an alternative to binoculars.

I mainly relied on 4x like ACOG or P223, but mostly used Kar98 and Mosin with their corresponding rifle scopes, which was always more than sufficient.

I recently had a lot of good rounds with the SCAR DMR and a Vampyr mounted on it, which was also used. Even before the Horde update, puppets were never visible more than 100-150m.

Are we talking about immersion in a survival game with a development of high-level and quality sniper weapons to only be used in PVP? Sad. Previously, with hunting scopes or m82 you could surround the area and clear sectors before entering or think about going at close range against the zombies, now you can't because they magically appear close to you or you see a zombie but if you move away a bit it disappears

kar98 or mosin with their respective scopes is more of the same you must be at close range I better use an assault rifle (I still use my beloved Mosin but they took away its true value)

and although before the hordes dlc, and although the zombies were not visible more than 150m... before it was better and more immersive than now, the idea of the hordes was very good but the implementation was terrible.

Hello. Croteam was involved in somewhat capacity at the beginning of pre production. We are talking about way before the EA release. I can confirm that SCUM was and is 100% being developed by us, Gamepires.

What will you shoot with them in pve? There is no puppet spawning from afar.
That was the point op made, what are you on about?

this part

and shes right we could never see zombies past 150m anyways so this idea of "ruining pve" is from people that never seen the fact they didnt load in past 150m from the start

yea pvp is a thing on scum just cause people play pve and dont want to shoot people dosnt mean everyone wants to
plus this ties into performance issues...
cant have random puppets walking around in the hopes SOMEONE sees them
makes no sense to use resourses to have a puppet loaded doing nothing where noboby will ever see it
and maybe by the off chance they do theres a HIGH probability they dont have a 12x scope

im all for single players having the OPTION to have the puppets be seen 150+m out though when the perfomance is hit they will go back to what it was

Wait for real NPC, puppets can be killed with a stone axe or a wood bow.

Sadly this is true, but players rendered out to 1000m(1km).. I've always wished the devs allowed zed rendering out to 1000m also, being that I mainly play PVE.
Maybe they could put in a zed render distance slider for PVE and singleplayer?

Now wait!! You can use them for hunt.... Oh, never mind they screwed up hunting as well.

Very true, my go to weapon was the SVD, now its just an archery game and silenced pistol now. As far as pve/singleplayer is concerned. Especially since silencers durability is horrid. now its anything with high capacity and a silencer, anything else is near suicide. Forget about the crossbow, reloads too slow and doesn't always oneshot a zombie, leaves you open to the horde spawning in the room you just cleared 10 seconds ago.
Toxicrufus Jan 25, 2024 @ 7:52pm
I call BS on the 150 m spawn/render distance, I was snipping puppets at 200 m prior to the new spawn system. The hotfix has them spawning further away but they only trigger when you enter the area and then they run in toward you. Not what I would call a good mechanic
PabloSpacebar Jan 25, 2024 @ 9:06pm
It is true that puppets dissapeard after 150m. But they were there! Now they are not. They appear when you get close and there is 3…
This is the whole point.
xKiCkx  [developer] Jan 25, 2024 @ 10:24pm
Hey there OP, you can still utilize the sniper rifles, unfortunately, some of the puppets won't be triggered until you enter the location and the render distance for the puppets I do agree should be increased.

Fixed the issue where EncounterHordeSpawnDistanceMultiplier server setting would not work correctly.

With this patch, this setting now seems to work.

multiplier range 0.00 to 100.00

Has anyone tested the distance between the player and the puppet in the 0.01 case and the 100 case?

For example, if the multiplier 100 case -> distance between the puppet and the player is 300 meters, the rifle is useful.
