and get put into a match where you Risk NOTHING but the fame you bet
it gives you gear and guns to Run and Gun all day 10 min matches
theres TDM CTF DM
they are seprate ish
outside the events you can be killed and gear stolen like most games
you cant be killed outside event while in an event
perma death only happens after you die too many times and go negative cash balance and i beleive thats -2500 or -3000
but thats like 10 deaths
theres "clans" though you only really hear about them if you crossed paths
on servers they play on
couldnt tell you X clan is popular or Y clan is....its more of if you see these types of people watch out.... they will be loud usually
theres progression thats a HUGE part of scum
nothing is done "overnight"
uh and "looting" is NOT like
*open box > gear/gun >open box > gear/gun*
its
*open box>maybe loot
>open box>maybe loot>
open box>hat*
that hat is still loot but some areas have civilian loot and others have military loot
just cause you found a hat or socks DOSNT mean you "didnt find loot"
you found loot its just not what you needed at that time
theres alot more to it but theres also A TON not implimented yet or fully fleshed out..
so be aware still in early access.. things happen
I'm not entirely sure of the name for the events, but there are events in the game in which you can compete against other players in addition to everyday survival on the island. If there are enough players, the event is started and players with predefined equipment are brought to the event venue where they can then take part in the event.
It is also entirely possible for private servers to offer their own events. They are happy to set up other rules for this and open world “events” are then also possible. The best thing to do is to consult with the respective administrators.
That really depends on where you would like to play. There are many teams, but of course there are also solo and duo players. There are also servers that have been set up specifically for Solo&Duo, so large teams are not possible here.
So you can usually find anything you like, whether it's in a small group, alone or in a massive squad, it's entirely up to the player.
Yes, even very self-sufficient and strong. In SCUM you can upgrade your skills with Learning By doing. The core attributes can also be upgraded, so if you start with strength 1 you can even upgrade them up to level 8 with the corresponding advantages. (All other core attributes have a maximum of 5, i.e. Intelligence, Constitution and Dexterity.) In principle, you can play in the game and you will upgrade yourself as you play according to your activities. But you can also do targeted training. However, metabolism also plays a role here. If you overdo it with training without paying attention to your health and nutrition, it can quickly end in deficits that are counterproductive. Wipes are also worth mentioning here. In SCUM there is the so-called partial wipe, which retains character stats even after a wipe. So you won't lose any character progress here, just your worldly possessions. With the in-game currency "Gold" (not a premium currency), you can get back on your feet relatively quickly even after the wipe.
Permadeath also exists, although not in the “one try only” version. By default you have 10x the chance of respawning without having any money in your account. The account balance will be lost every time you respawn (-250 default, -2500 is permadeath.)
That means, with a bank account with 0 cash:
If you die, 250 cash will be deducted, your account will now have -250, if you reach -2500, permadeath is reached and respawning is no longer possible.
Depends on the size of the base. A solo can definitely build a (very) small base and maintain it without too much grind
If it gets discovered, you will most certainly get raided. They probably won't waste much time trying to destroy the whole thing but you never know. They can also take over your flag but you have 24 hours to take it back.
Yes but it's been so long since I've built a base, I'm not sure what's still in the game. Someone with more knowledge should jump in here and correct the following....
There used to be, and maybe still are:
*Spike traps
*Nail traps
*Barbed wire
*Bottle bombs
*Pipe bombs
*Claymore mines
*AP mines
The last three used to be able to be equipped with proximity or laser detonators that needed rearming after 14 days. Pretty sure that's all changed though
IMO
dont bother YET untill theres a decent balance between building and getting shafted...
sooo demoralizing after a week of grind to be blown out in less then a night
stick to burying boxes with shovels
SCUM offered this at some point but it is not possible since after the Character Model rework. The Developers however said, that they will look at a later date at it again to see what can be done.
Happy to read! Enjoy playing the game and if you need any help, feel free to ask! :)
