SCUM
Beeper TELEPORTERS, Spawn LITERALLY next to players, My #1 huge issue with update.
To clarify, this is not a reflection of the update as a whole. I loved the new features and quality of life improvements. The horde system adds a fun challenge that scales with the player count.
The only issue is, while it was my understanding that the hordes would not spawn next to the player, but rather nearby, this is definitely not the case. At least from my experience. I would be in a police station, in the wild, or in a bunker, and they would literally spawn nearby, or right next to me. This is a HUGE problem with beepers since you can't defend against them spawning right next to you for an instant death.
With regular puppets, I can usually just change my plan on the fly, but with beepers, you're lucky if they spawn far enough to drop everything to kill them or run away.
I was in a military bunker, and they kept spawning near the players, myself included. I limped towards the girl's bathroom since a beeper spawned in the boy's, my team was getting swarmed, one died from a beeper spawning right next to him, the other from swarm. After I was able to walk and run again, I go from the toilets to the door, and an armored zombie spawned inside the bathroom right next to me. I already checked that bathroom and cleared it before resting.
Since I confirmed they can spawn right next to the player, I decided to run out. I killed a few and ran from the others, I was nearing the exit, and a Beeper spawned RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. Instant spawn, instant death. I was not happy since this didn't seem like a fair death, considering how I recall the devs saying that the idea is for them not to spawn next to us like that.

Similar things happened in the police stations. I would clear it, go upstairs, then a horde would spawn inside with me, Beeper included. I survived those, but it's ridiculous to know that the same thing could happen inside despite just finishing clearing it out.

TL:DR:
I LOVE the horde system, plus updates. This isn't a hate post, it's a "I like it enough to know it can do better and just want to share the frustration so it hopefully gets fixed." I appreciate this game so much (with few personal gripes that are overall fair to the game but unprefferable to my playstyle). So I hope this gets fixed, since instant spawning next to the player takes the fun/achievement away from clearing a space out to begin with.
It makes it more challenging, but not for the right reasons.
I got swarmed enough to bearly survive a couple times without them instant spawning, and those were good hits for them, no complaints.
It's just when I'm doing well, and suddenly they appear and there's nothing I could do.

I bought the game since i search for some good survival experience, but honestly 40 minutes and i have enough.
They literally spawn right in your face, and this is just bad, not only that but they are very sensitive, they seem to notice me trough the walls when im in some closed off space in the buildings.
Played 40 mintues, died three times already, so i go to the forum what is going on.
The first time was literally at the beginning of the game, i literally just landed and hear a screams behind and two zombies are already chasing me, apparently they run up to me and i died.
Landed the second time, goes to the nearby farm, didn't see any freaks so i started gathering stuff and the geared up zombie jumped trough window, i kickboxed it for like 10 minutes and died from bloodloss.
Third time i literally just saw a couple for them spawning few meters from me and they noticed me ofc, so i didn't even bother and just alt-f4 from the game.

It can be tough, and hard, but the broken ass spawn rate is what i absolutely hate, there needs to be some balancing done, and from what i read the recent patch screwed things up sooo, now i wonder if i should refund it or what, since on paper it looked actually pretty cool, but the first time experience is really offputting.

So far, I've had good experiences from the developers and community. Based on the Q&A I saw before the release of the recent update, they specifically said they didn't want that to happen, which means it isn't a difficulty thing, it's a broken mechanic or something beyond our control.

Because of that, everyone I talked to feels comfortable that they'll find a way to fix it or notify the community if that's not possible.
This update that caused it is really new and did great things besides the proximity of spawns right on you.

If you decide to refund it, I'd suggest checking back in a while to see if it was fixed, since the people I talk to agree it's great. New updates will have issues to resolve. But for sure this one is a gamebreaker at times.

i was in the police station in the room with 4 lockers. opened the first one and instantly heard puppet screams from all over the place, then a beep and boom... dead. a suicide puppet must have spawned right next to me in the same room, as both doors were closed and there was no banging on them. thats absolutely horrible and should not happen...

Same thing happened to me. I didn't die in police stations but bearly. Beepers spawned nearby.
It defeats the purpose of the zombies being able to break through doors if they can just instant spawn nearby.
Popular temporary fixes I've discussed with the community I talked to are:
1. Give Beepers a 5 or 10 second Turn-On Countdown so if they spawn next to you, you can at least plan accordingly.
2. Turn them off from Hordes until it's resolved.
3. Give Beepers a 3 second Detonation Countdown until it's resolved. This is less geared towards the ones at a distance already in the game, and more to give some survival chance against ones that spawn on you so you know what's coming.
They shall not spawn on you, they shall not spawn visibly from thin air, period. They should rather spawn further out and make distant sounds indicating they have become "alive" from their dormant state and are now looking for your blood.

Hello all, appreciate the feedback. Puppets spawning directly on you should not happen so if you have more footage of it or any details do please send it our way.

Thank goodness. I appreciate the confirmation.
So far, everyone I talked to about it in chat agree that despite the spawn problems (since spawning inside with you defeats the purpose of them having to break in), we like the update and are confident with it getting resolved.

Almost everyone has a "Beeper Spawn" death story at this point. At least with regular zombies, we can make on the spot decisions, but with Beepers, we can't defend, we can't attack since it'd blow up up anyways unless we hit the head the millisecond it spawns probably., and running is impossible when they spawn within blow up distance.

We still love the game and continue playing it with the exception of a few that are going to wait.
The hordes spawning really is fun besides that. But it's sometimes inconsistent.
It used to be being quiet wouldn't spawn them. But we noticed that even if sneaking, melee, silenced bow, they'll spawn anyways, sometimes one horde after another, other times we want a horde by using loudest items and weapons, they'll not spawn at all.

It definitely makes going to the towns more fun. Just not in Beeper Instant Spawn locations.

This is a common theme with Scum... they introduce a new mechanic and it's way off and needs to be nerfed pretty severely. It'll get worked out, but it would have been nice if they'd worked it out before releasing it.

Yeah, that's what i was thinking. Im probably gonna hold out on giving it back.

There is clearly something wrong, the best way that i imagined it's actually working is, if you clear certain area, for example a farm.
There shouldn't be any spawns in there as long as you are on that farm area, spawn zombie far far away, and any loud noise, should lure them onto the noise source, not just artificially spawning tons of them on your position.
It kinda breaks the immersion.

Yeah, i saw a lot of responses so im kinda positive right now, i will keep it.

I like the farm idea. That's what I considered as well. That way if you loot a police station, they won't spawn right there right away with you in there. There would likely have to be a cooldown tho. Otherwise players could take shifts staying there just for easy loot. But it would be nice if they still don't spawn right there, because if one leaves, right when a newer player arrives, they're gonna get swarmed when the timer hits 0.
Mabye if the longer you're there, the higher chance they'll swarm, but from the outside and not next to the player.
