So far, I've had good experiences from the developers and community. Based on the Q&A I saw before the release of the recent update, they specifically said they didn't want that to happen, which means it isn't a difficulty thing, it's a broken mechanic or something beyond our control.
Because of that, everyone I talked to feels comfortable that they'll find a way to fix it or notify the community if that's not possible.
This update that caused it is really new and did great things besides the proximity of spawns right on you.
If you decide to refund it, I'd suggest checking back in a while to see if it was fixed, since the people I talk to agree it's great. New updates will have issues to resolve. But for sure this one is a gamebreaker at times.
Same thing happened to me. I didn't die in police stations but bearly. Beepers spawned nearby.
It defeats the purpose of the zombies being able to break through doors if they can just instant spawn nearby.
1. Give Beepers a 5 or 10 second Turn-On Countdown so if they spawn next to you, you can at least plan accordingly.
2. Turn them off from Hordes until it's resolved.
3. Give Beepers a 3 second Detonation Countdown until it's resolved. This is less geared towards the ones at a distance already in the game, and more to give some survival chance against ones that spawn on you so you know what's coming.
Thank goodness. I appreciate the confirmation.
So far, everyone I talked to about it in chat agree that despite the spawn problems (since spawning inside with you defeats the purpose of them having to break in), we like the update and are confident with it getting resolved.
Almost everyone has a "Beeper Spawn" death story at this point. At least with regular zombies, we can make on the spot decisions, but with Beepers, we can't defend, we can't attack since it'd blow up up anyways unless we hit the head the millisecond it spawns probably., and running is impossible when they spawn within blow up distance.
We still love the game and continue playing it with the exception of a few that are going to wait.
The hordes spawning really is fun besides that. But it's sometimes inconsistent.
It used to be being quiet wouldn't spawn them. But we noticed that even if sneaking, melee, silenced bow, they'll spawn anyways, sometimes one horde after another, other times we want a horde by using loudest items and weapons, they'll not spawn at all.
It definitely makes going to the towns more fun. Just not in Beeper Instant Spawn locations.
Yeah, that's what i was thinking. Im probably gonna hold out on giving it back.
There is clearly something wrong, the best way that i imagined it's actually working is, if you clear certain area, for example a farm.
There shouldn't be any spawns in there as long as you are on that farm area, spawn zombie far far away, and any loud noise, should lure them onto the noise source, not just artificially spawning tons of them on your position.
It kinda breaks the immersion.
Yeah, i saw a lot of responses so im kinda positive right now, i will keep it.
I like the farm idea. That's what I considered as well. That way if you loot a police station, they won't spawn right there right away with you in there. There would likely have to be a cooldown tho. Otherwise players could take shifts staying there just for easy loot. But it would be nice if they still don't spawn right there, because if one leaves, right when a newer player arrives, they're gonna get swarmed when the timer hits 0.
Mabye if the longer you're there, the higher chance they'll swarm, but from the outside and not next to the player.
