SCUM

I tested airplanes extensively... Here are results.
**The circumstances:
- Airfield Runways are the testing locations.
- Tested over the course of 10 runs at each airfield specific to this test and experiential since its re-release. (one run is from a complete stop at the airfield gas pump, into taxi onto the runway, into takeoff, back to landing on the runway, and into a position near the same gas pump)
- The wind is not blowing, or at least the flags are not moving and landing is not impeded.
- The area is flat as the runways allow. No obstacles aside from the ones provided at each airfield.
- Above advanced skill (i really liked the plane on its original release) and 4.1 dexterity.

**Problems:
- While holding the brake and throttling to a high the brakes fail completely... Sometimes. Other times I can hold that brake and pull a 180 like a tank. The issue is really a lack of reliability here. I can work with it in either way. But I need it to do the same thing every time.

- While on the runway and performing taxi operations the reverse works... sometimes. The ability to turn at speeds between 30-50kmh works... sometimes. The ability to land at speeds between 40-80 and turn the plane away from obstacles works.... sometimes.

And again the issue is reliability. If all the plane can do is take off and land in a single direction and it can't turn at all unless flying that would be fine... if it happened all the time.

@DEVS I do not know what is intended to happen because there are so many variables. Assuming all my above circumstances are met- are any of my "problems" really problems or is it intended to be near impossible to fly the porcelain wind chimes anywhere besides a runway? I can land it on a beach.. sometimes.. or in a small clearing of the woods... sometimes... other times the plane fails to respond in any manner that is expected and I'm accounting for weight, speeds, and winds. I can touch down and stop on the runway using 5-10 percent of its length and have successfully landed on a variety of beachfronts without leaving the sands. I've even landed between powerlines with intended success... sometimes. but then there are brake failures and turn failures and very often the wing takes 10 percent damage from the plane body, falls off and the other 90 percent health becomes a timer for the C4-like explosion that follows.... sometimes. So what is supposed to happen?

@beda Thank you for the affirmation. I did see where others were posting similar problems but many of them didn't even check their control settings (at least one of them admitting so and others hinted at not caring enough to look). So it was difficult to gauge if they were having a human error issue coincidental to a real one or if they were seeing what i see. And i didnt see anyone provide a real test standard on what they were trying to do. Leaving other responses limited to a 'did you plug your pc in first?' type of approach.

I think you guys are doing great things. The testing group that is your current player base, myself included, sometimes forgets that we are just that. testing. Which is a good sign. It says that we as a community enjoy the game so much we easily forget it is still in development. Ive definitely played other games on full release that cant provide a fraction of what yall do. Good job :)

Yeah these controls are somewhat wonky. I have played so many other aircraft games and even though SCUM is not one of them, it is nearly impossible for me to successfully handle the plane in SCUM. I have about 20/100% success but to me it is not even worth it to keep using them because of the places that you can land are limited as you keep bouncing off the ground when it is uneven which is causing me to die most of the times.

I'm guessing they didn't hire any seasoned PC flight simulator professionals to add the planes into the game, so ya get what ya get :-)

Since first patch following the initial release of airplanes the aircraft became ridiculously fragile and inconsistent. Biplanes were designed to land on grass fields and dirt strips. I dont believe this was taken into account accurately as a surface with tiny rocks randomly affect health of the aircraft. At slow tax speeds I have seen as much as 50% of the biplane's health lost from a 20 kph coast over pebbles. A reasonable landing speed of 45 - 60 kph takes 75 to 100% of the health. Again, this is just the wheels rolling over pebbles. I simply do not enjoy going through the pain of getting one passed 3+ Mechs and a white knuckle landing just to die from balsa wood and tissue paper plane reacting to a texture on the runway.
