finally found some meat and thought ok, meat skewers. No.. you need a recipe to learn these now? Salt pepper optional thats fine. I craft the skewer (of just wood) but no option to cook meat skewer using the steaks that I can find. In cooking tab its greyed out and says Add Recipe.

my cooking is at 0 skill so maybe that's a factor. Also, I need to watch some tutorials as that is the first attempt at cooking but honestly, meat/stick/fire cave men figured it out.

It doesn't need to be as nutrient rich as other meals we need to learn to cook but for a game aimed at realism, Idk any adult that cant fathom how to cook a bit of meat (badly and over cooked sure, IE less nutrient value etc) No one is forced to eat raw and make themselves sick while sitting next to a lit campfire. Unless the grew up in a jungle or something and have had no basic knowledge passed to them.

I might be missing something, as I say, I check tutorials. Have found multiple cake recipe books and .. I am really not interested in making cakes in a survival game.. but to option to learn it is cool, dont get me wrong.

I just want to not be weak and exhausted all the time. thought meat skewers might help and be like a basic no skill item.

Don't need to craft a skewer. Build a simple fire, light it, look at it, hit F make skewers. Meat, mixed or veggies. ;)

Hello :),

As andi already explained, it's very simple. Create a fireplace and light it to create your temporary cooking area. Which one doesn't matter. (I recommend the smallest though.)

Now aim at the fireplace and press "F" to bring up the menu. In this menu, click on the bowl with the spoon (i.e. in the middle of the symbol) on one of the two free places.

Now choose the recipe you want. Since we don't have a grill or other tools, only BBQ/grill options with the skewers are available here. We have three to choose from. Vegetables, Mixed and Meat. Choose the meat here because it only needs the steak.

The dish now appears on the cooking zone. Now all you have to do to get started is add ingredients and then click on the little chef's hat. The grilling starts. :)

ok thanks. hmm pretty far off change. like idk why in "cooking" tab the meat skewers are there but cant be crafted. but anyway, as long as there is a way.
