First try a file verification to see that all files are loaded correctly. If that doesn't help, you can also try deleting the "Saved" folder and letting the game create it again. When uninstalling, folders in the Appdata directory are not deleted. These folders must therefore be deleted manually. If you now install a game after a long time and it had many patches, conflicts can arise here due to outdated fragments.
To delete the saved folder simply go to the following directory:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\SCUM
Here you will find the Saved folder. It is best to delete this completely. If you have fresh single player saves, you should also create a backup of the SCUM.db beforehand. But be careful with old saves, as these can cause problems. Alternatively, you can back up the entire "SafeFiles" folder. Save the backup somewhere else on your PC (e.g. the desktop.) Multiplayer doesn't need such backups. Characters are stored here on the servers.
You can find the SCUM.db here:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\SCUM\Saved\SaveFiles
After the backup has been created, delete the "saved" folder as described above. Then start the game, the folder will be recreated.
