Real talk, is it hackers or too easy?
Locks are completely pointless and therefore so are vehicles and bases. Traps also.

Why? Is it too easy or is this game just swamped with hackers?

Hello :),

That always depends a lot on the players. There are many that are very bad with the locks, but there are also many that are really very good.
So the locks are a good defense, but not a final one. Above all, other procedures are required here to protect what is really important, such as burying loot boxes.
Also helpful are Advanced Base Defenses, Landmines and other deterrents placed in and around the base. These can be of great help here.
So bases are a sanctuary, but shouldn't be seen as impregnable defenses. But you can make it difficult for any attacker and thus also use up the attackers' resources, which may even raise the question for the attacker whether it's worth it, especially if they only find a bit of material in the end and no weapons because they are safe are hidden in a secret place. :)

One thing I learned about this game and a few others is to never underestimate the abilities of no lifers.

I saw a vid where someone literally spent something like 5 hours door camping waiting for the guy to come out to ambush him while the door was open. Others will spend hours code picking locks. Another vid where a guy opens something like 12 gold locks in a row like butter.

It is easy but not for us normal humans.

There are players with so many hours in the game that have spent hundreds of them learning lockpicking. Locks will stop most players that want to take it but not all of them.

Best reply I've read on this forum.

What I'm seeing in the mod and devs response is this....

There's a skill that is only known by 1% of the population but once they learn it they can ruin the game for the other 99%...but that's ok because they spent 100s of hours (maybe) to get there.

Lots of games have dynamics that take 100's of hours to get good at...almost no game has this lopsided impact as a result.

honestly dont see what soo hard about just making a 4 lock code lock...
its NOT super hard and its not to easy

still need to spend more than 10 mins trying to get in and now with rpgs...

you really dont want people making bases huh

There are players insane good at lockpicking. Often get accused for cheating because of being good.

Well said.

Its a good example of how this game caters to the minority to the detriment of the majority.

Hence the steam charts.

When planes return that same 1% eventually find and hold onto the asset that makes finding almost every base easy, compounding the problem.

I have come across a number of dial locks now, as I predicted, the majority of players set combos within the same range of numbers, making breezing through these easy most of the time.

1000 possible combos is not enough.

From my personal experience it was 75% hackers and 25% good players. The community I played with before they quit had active admins that watched everyone 24/7. They would ban people the second they were proven to have been cheating and the easiest way for them to tell was by how quickly they went through gold locks and navigated traps. Anything a hacker got through, they notified the owner and verified it was due to cheating. If it was just a really good player, they verified it to the owner.

agree, it apparently takes 20 mins at most. Now devs are talking about destroyable prefab doors.

I think they want to open up raiding to everyone, not just the squads with good lockpickers.

this is ok in a way, but I am not too interested in a stealth/stealing game while the owner is offline. I will never be a raider, tho I have tried to steal locked cars.. and failed.

Now, you can simply shoot off a locked car door, remove the lock and take the car with just about 2 mags of ammo.

Soo as I say, devs seem to want everything to be temporary, no more hoarding.

I guess in a way, Logging out with your loot is the only safe thing and while in-game any death could mean losing whats on you. it brings back some survival aspect BUT. the large squads have gold for days. On a soft wipe, a squad could go straight to the traders on the first hour and be fully geared with locked cars.

So imo, we are getting a a trading system over a hoarding system.. idk tbh, it feels more rewarding to find the rare items looting than to buy them (and sure, some, you still cant buy) but its now easy to lose and easy to gain for established players.

After all is said, its still my favourite game. where ever the devs go I will follow with interest. And I will be keen to see modded servers after 1.0 and what modders will do.

I agree that being able to buy so many items needs to be adjusted.

Traders should offer lower tier items for sale and that's it. This should go with clothing and weapons.

It's too easy for a lot of people that can pick locks. Especially since lock protection damage is very low. Most squads will have a lockpicker that can tear through locks no problem. (Disclosure: I can) The best thing to do is to wall off your doors. We were getting raided or attacked almost daily from the moment we started building. It seems like once the base got leveled up the less we were attacked. The more work it takes for someone to raid the less likely they are to attack. Unfortunately it takes a crap ton of work to build up your base.

The locks work vs noobs. My squadmate just heard someone messing with the lock. He's dead now.

We persisted and weathered storms. It took a couple hundred hours to build but unfortunately it sounds like it's going to be wiped before we can finish upgrading it.... but such is SCUM life. (There's 4 vehicles in this base. US East #3. Come raid us)
