Never had this issue. Are you fishing in fresh water or salt water? From my experience, ocean fish tend to be harder to catch as opposed to fresh water fish.
I'm fishing at the ocean. But my line snaps before the floater hits the water.
The devs usually then hot fix it again.
Ive had this happen to me several times and usually the next patch corrects the issue.
Deathwhisper told me to try logging in and out and that did work one time but usually I just stop fishing till they refix it or I take the time to constantly disassemble and reassemble my fishing rod.
Ok. I'll try again later. I didn't try logging back in. If not, I'll just wait for the next patch.
I wanted to say that when I restarted the game, the issue disappeared. Sucks I use a good portion of my 0.5 Line lol.
My next hypothesis was "I guess it's because I'm fishing from bridges/docks or something?" because I was at a boat house on the lake. Of course I had to test it and went fishing from the rocks nearby. Still every other time I cast I would break my line. My latest theory states that "Maybe because it's cold or something, the line is fragile, blah blah blah..." but I haven't gotten back to the main base in warmer areas and decided to look up the issue on the interwebs. Apparently this is it... It's just a bug... not a feature. Maybe once I get back to warm areas and test this some more I might post an update. Or I might not. Who knows.
