Problem with battery charger not working right?
So i found a small generator, filled it up and turned it on. Then i crafted a small battery charger (100% dur) and set it nearby (about 1 meter away) and turned it on too. All systems running and 'go'. Then i put 3 cell phone batteries of various discharge states in it. They said they were charging, but the rate was pathetically slow, so i took two of them out and left just a single battery in the charger that had 3/10 charges left on it. That made the charge rate improve somewhat, but i'd still rate it at somewhere around 'slower than f*ck'.

After an interminable amount of time, it finally said 'finished charging', and claimed it was 'fully charged'. So, if that's the case, why does the battery still say only '3/10' charges on it? Um, uh... WTF??

As with other items in the game, 3/10 is the condition of the battery as you found it, it is not a number of charges. I have the same situation, charge level of the battery can only be seen when it is inserted in the device (NVG's for example).

I wish devs could make batteries to really show number / level of charge, like with NVGs.

Hello :),

The battery chargers have a maximum charging rate. The more batteries there are in the device, the more this charging strength has to be distributed across the different elements.
Larger chargers have a stronger charging rate. A medium charger can often charge a battery very well and clearly, while the largest charger naturally has the strongest charging rate.

The symbolism 0/10 has nothing to do with the actual charge, this is displayed in red lettering when you move the mouse over the battery, and the charging rate is also displayed here.

Ok, so what exactly does the 'x/10' indicator even mean? With other consumables, it generally indicates 'uses', or how much of the item remains available for use. So if that doesn't indicate remaining charge in the battery, what exactly DOES it indicate? If it doesn't indicate the remaining available charges, then it shouldn't even be on there, as it's just terribly confusing for no reason.

If i am not misstaken it is a leftover from how they worked before.

Well, i hope it is either removed or replaced with a decent visual for the amount of charge remaining. For me, the long row of red numbers and dots that indicate remaining charge when you put your cursor on the battery, is not a very user friendly indicator. Can't even tell what is minutes, hours, days, whatever. We need a simple, obvious indicator that always just shows the charge level of the battery WITHOUT having to put your cursor over it. Simple is good.

I found generator that had fuel. I placed a charger next to it. I turned the generator and the charger on. then tried placing a cell phone battery to test it out, but when I put the battery in the charger, I just got a red wrench icon and nothing would happen. I figured maybe it was a bug with cell phone batteries, so I put a car battery in the charger and got the same red wrench icon and again nothing would happen. Also, I wasn't able to remove either of the batteries from the charger. The only way I was able to remove them from the charger was by turning the charger on and off and then quickly removing the battery before the red wrench icon would come back. What am I doing wrong?

As a side note, I couldn't even insert the little blue batteries at all, so I assume that must mean they are not chargeable?

The blue batteries aren't rechargable. I have the same problem with a small generator and large battery charger. The charger didn't show the battery to be full after a day of charging. I went ahead and took it out. It showed fully charged then. I've read the battery charger does charge it's the display that's buggy. That seems to be the case for me.

Did it show the red wrench icon for you when you had the battery in the charger?
Aymes Dec 28, 2023 @ 9:09am
Does anyone have any insight as to if the red wrench icon I am seeing is normal? Surely it is not normal for me to not be able to remove the battery after placing it in the charger. I thought the red wrench icon was something that was normally attributed to server lag issues - which there are none of on my server. The only other time I have seen the red wrench icon was before I had my own server and I was playing on one that had some lag issues and items sometime wouldn't move to and from containers properly and show the red wrench icon.

It is a bug, devs are aware of it.
