most people are USED to AAA BIG companys to ONLY release access to a game when they know its "near done"
thats not how EA works, games could be in EA for 10 years sometimes.
so it would be best to understand how long it will take
and that the veiw of EA is slanted because people think Early Access mean a Near complete
scum is not there yet.
look at it like this
was anyone able to play GTA6 early access? .. NO because if people did they would be waiting years YEARS.
but BECAUSE people didnt see it or have access to it
they dont know how long it takes
be glad we even get to play
IF the devs wanted they could just PULL the game untill they were "done"
then people would be on here saying they want to play again.....
its entitlement
and the fact people are accustomed to AAA companys ONLY showing the product just before its finished
thus you have people being like " i bought the game why isnt it working"
thats because its not a COMPLETE game yet and we have EARLY ACCESS to play the game WHILE its being made....
if we had access to gta6 RIGHT now
people would STILL complain how its broken and not working as intended...
yea because it also is not complete
Won't be paying for hosting any time soon. ;)
Eye roll dude.
I've been on steam for 19 years, made multiple video games and worked for AAA studios.
I can ask what I wanted to ask and make the points that I want to make all I want.
This does not mean I am "entitled" at all. No need to "Splain" it like I'm 5 bud.
Thanks for getting super heated over some simple questions and brief statements like this, I feel my words triggered you into a senseless rant. I win.
telling it "like it is" as if I'm not a video game developer myself with titles on steam... You go girl.
Yes, it's identical as the answer didn't change and the game is not fully released yet. :)
Cyberkerplunk release, what a LOL fest of glitches that was after 10 years.
Thank you for your time and consistency. I appreciate it.
Valheim dedicated Server exists
V-Rising Dedicated Server exists
7 Days to Die Dedicated Server exists
The Forest Dedicated Server exists
All that ping perfect and gportal are doing is running an executable and pointing it to config files. There is no reason why we cannot get the same access.
Just put a disclaimer on there that it is early access. Oh wait. We already know that.
Their primary reason is to keep the server files out of the hands of cheat creators. Yes, some already exist, because the game is built with Unreal Engine, but giving them access to how they've modified it to customize their game would only make it worse. They've said they'd approach releasing them after 1.0. Have some patience.
Can you show me if this is an official reason that they have posted somewhere? Again... Valheim, 7DtD, VRising and the Forest are all doing fine. In this list VRising and maybe Valheim are the only ones that have PvP components out of the box. But they are doing fine.
My concern is not due to a lack of patience, rather not seeing anything concrete about being definitively able to play this game as I intended... On my server that I run in my rack. Why pay someone when I have the equipment, network bandwidth and skill?

6)When will you release server files?
Also a frequent and complicated question. The game is still in Early Access. This means it is still prone to a lot of changes on all side. Releasing server files right now would be in short: a logistical nightmare. We also need to be vary of hacks and cheats. The more files we release the easier it is to develop tools for hac
k
ing the game and ruining the game experience for everyone. So not releasing server files seems logical to us for now.
Yes, other game devs have chosen to do this and deal with whatever additional issues come with it. That doesn't mean Gamepires has to follow suit. If it's a deal breaker for you just wait until they release them. That will also give you an opportunity to see what the end product looks like before making the decision.
