SCUM
build height
Is there a build height limit in the game? I was planning on building 5 2X2 levels on top of my base. I could only build 4. I also couldn't build a pitched roof on top of the 4. I could build the small roof section. If I only had 1 foundation it would have worked. Wouldn't work with a 2X2. I ended up putting a floor on top.

5 or 6 is the most height.
Once you get to a certain height the lower levels need to be upgraded-made stronger to support the additional weight above.

I have a 6x8 foundation. In the center I have a 2x2 with support frames that have been upgraded to level 2. When I got to the top I decided to build the 2x2 area 5 levels taller. The base below it is 3 levels tall. I could only add 4 levels so it's 7 levels currently. If I upgraded the supports around the 2x2 to level 3 or higher would I be able to build taller? Decided to add this picture. https://i.imgur.com/8mNRsCI.jpg

Make sure your bottom structures are higher level to increase stability so you can build higher. Also at a certain point there are technical limitations from which you cannot build any higher.

I have 2x2 foundations with all 8 suport frames around the edges and also have 2 support frames north and south. I also have 1 support frame on the west side. For some reason the one on the east side goes red and I can't build it. It may be my improvised workbench in the way. I'll have to check it out. I have those all the way to the top upgraded to level 2. If I upgrade them will I be able to build higher? Or is 7 floors the maximum height I can build? I'm adding a couple of pictures. https://i.imgur.com/ajdElLJ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/C7zdWFf.jpg

Dude the whole building of the modular system is glitchy! Sometimes stuff needs to be destroyed and when it is rebuilt it works and you changed nothing!
You cannot build a 7th floor!

Your workbench is in the way of the expansion of the support beam upgrade!

We basically have to live with chests until we fully upgrade our bases.
Unless they fixed this>>if you have anything built wardrobe, wall rack, work bench and you up grade that foundation or wall it WILL DESTROY what ever was built on it!

Thanks for the information. I'm not planning on upgrading past level 2. I like the log look. I have upgraded all of my stairs to level 3. I wasn't sure that if I upgraded my supports under the 2x2 that I might be able to built taller. Guess not. I suspected it might be the workbench. I didn't want to destroy it until I found out for sure. Thanks for that.

Your welcome...I hope I was correct about that workbench being the issue...

I've been building improvised wardrobes and trying to organize a little. Haven't tried destroying the workbench to see if it'll work yet. I will let you know one way or the other whether it works or not.

I had just started destroying the workbench and thought why. I ended up restoring almost all of my knives and axes wearing out the workbench. Then I added and upgraded the support all the way to the top. I also rebuilt the workbench. Wouldn't have taken so long but, I ended up going and getting a backpack full of scrap metal. i even went up on the roof and finished a wardrobe I started earlier and needed scrap for to finish.
