The "Old" ones, which are guarded by sentinal and stuff.... this ones you can enter by finding the Entrances.
The "New" ones called Abbandond Bunker work different. (Not Spoiling to much so i just go over the basics). You need a Key Card to open them or you Heck into it, or you Force The Door Open(for which you need Crowbars i believe, but not sure), to Enter. Once in you will encounter new Enemys aswell as Old ones and there are some more "Mechanics" aside from Lockpicking to acces some Areas of the Bunker.
Ok ok Technicly there are 3 Types: the World War 2 Bunker are also Bunker but they are pretty small, unprotected and most Stuff you will found there is Years Old ^^
The God old Wardog that Guy is great :D
As already mentioned, there are 2 types of bunkers. The Undamaged and the Abandoned Bunkers.
The non-damaged bunker systems can be entered via the main entrance or the hidden exit. (This is a hatch in the floor). You don't need a key card or other functions for this. You only need a keycard for the killbox.
The Abandoned Bunkers are significantly different. During the day you can only enter it with a key card or with a mini game. At night you will be able to enter the bunker without any tools.
Inside, however, you must first connect the power supply and if you do not have a key card, you must search the corpses on site so that you can find the access card for the inside (there are 2, for lvl 1 and lvl 2). Once you have restored energy and the key cards you can look on the plan which rooms you need to go to and which access you need.
To supply the system with electricity you need one of the fuses. These are available in 200A 400A 600A 800A and 1000A and have different lifespans. The 200s only have a very short lifespan and are usually best suited to supply the main floor with energy at the beginning. this is how you get to the small security center and, with a bit of luck, you can arm yourself further here. However, the corresponding times are also on the power box so that you can also find the information here.
There are also number locks inside the bunkers. These are doors that have to be opened using a combination of numbers. You only have a little time for that. Use the used keys and determine the code to get access, be careful! If you fail, the alarm will go off.
You can also use the crowbar to open large doors inside. Great caution applies here as well, the slashers don't particularly like it when they hear noise and will become much more active.
Take a look at https://scum-map.com/en/news/352 , here open the Interactrive map and select the filters to see what bunkers are abandoned and what are the working ones. :)
However Ingame you notice the Different Right Away... The New Bunkers, the Abanndondend ones, well they are abandond.... Area is overgrown with Plants and such, full of dead bodys, destroyed stuff and such..... It pretty much looks like you would expect a Bunker after 80 years or so of 0 Maintenance, to look like.
Edit: There are tricks and Ways to survive the AB´s even Solo but in generall yeah go gear up some more. The "Old Bunkers" also are filled with Zombies from time to time but not on the Same Level as the ABs. So could be worth. However for the Good Loot (that more ore less also goes for Open Military Areas or Police Station and such) bring Lockpicks.
New bunkers can be entered without keycards, if you do find a keycard it will just make your trip to the bunker easier, but you don't need to have one to access them, you can either hack the main gates in order to enter the bunker or wait for the night so they are unlocked. When inside the bunker you can pass every part of the bunker just by force opening, hacking, and solving puzzles, you are required a keycard for some specific doors like the killbox. All that you need is fuze to provide power to the bunker in order to get out of the medical terminal to upgrade your INT and to solve keypad minigames to unlock small armories and depositories.
You can get the "Master" card if you kill for example Mechs. They can drop Keycards which will open the entire bunker, not only front doors. the Keycards you find inside of the bunker are very time limited. They open the respective area (So first or Second Level) but expire in around 1h.
