Thoughts on looting system

Me and my friends find it really hard these days (even on x10 servers, the only one accessibles for me because of my country's too far distance with ANY server) to find gear and weapons. Since the 0.9 update, things started to get even worse, the "normal" bunkers got replaced by "end-game".

The problem here is that there are too many players rushing for weapons and gear in those "normal" bunkers, making it impossible to find loot or even get inside the bunker itself. The thing is that even the luckiest players that managed to come out alive of these few remaining bunkers, left it with little loot, like i did a day before posting this very comment.

Without gear and weapons, how are we supposed to reach the end-game bunkers ? How and where are we supposed to find stuff ?

And the rarety of the loot isnt the only problem, as the loot found spawns in non locial places, as i somehow managed to find nails, bolts and screwdrivers in nightstands, scrap metal inside military loot boxes (you know, the ones with camouflage on it), and not a single weapon or any sort military gear after looking ALL of the "normal bunkers" around the map (even the D4 underground bunker).

After a whole day of looting and finding nothing, we decided to go in the "abandonned bunkers" with bows, clubs and hammers and even a pistol in the holster, in case th situation comes out bad. And even with that, as experienced players with more than 1300 hours played on the game, we barely came out alive, with only a few grenades and a stabproof vest, as we looted from sector A to F for about 45 minutes, killing razors after razors, getting jumped on and torn appart. (on the same x10 loot server)

The traders didnt helped much since money isnt easy to find and also that my AZERTY french keyboard wont let me type any digit when using the ATM, making it impossible for me to store money in my bank account (yes i've tried using Shift+digits but didnt work)

In conclusion, finding stuff is hard, loot spawns randomly into weird places and where it shouldnt be (cuz who tf puts nails in one's nightstand), there are too many new "abandonned bunkers" replacing the old ones which makes loot very rare and players go crazy around the 5 ones remaining.

That's it, i've said everything i had to, there are many other thing to say but it'll just be off topic with the looting system.

Ok first of all, Abandondend Bunkers are doable solo with just a Bow and a lot of Healing Stuff, basicly. Yes thats hard and needs a lot of Skill but you can do that. Maybe Check out some Videos on how to do it.... Could help you with your Struggle mate.


But aside from that: How do 64 Player loot every Weapon Shop, Every Police Station, Every "normal" Bunker, every WW2 Bunker, every smaller and bigger "Military" Area, like the Weapon Factory in the South for Example? There are idk 20 times more Lootspots as Max Player on Server. So plenty of Areas to Find Stuff. Loot more or less respawns every 30 Minutes aswell, so yeah even if 60 Player, in a absolut Mega conclusion of misfortune, come and raid the same Area as you, and you dont wanna swap places (for any reason what so ever)... Wait 2,3 Days and you would be able to find Loot there again.
OFC you need to Lockpick to get halfway good or decent Gear, in most Cases. If you ofc dont wanna do that aswell, than it starts to get harder, because then you need to rely on the Stuff you find in Boxes or on Huntin Stands, which are more or less some 9mm Pistols sometimes or basic Hunting Rifles. But even with that you can go some other Places for Loot again. Use your time to Build a Base, get a steady Food Supplie, get a Car or Bike together and so on and on. Weapons, PVP and Bunker arnt the Only Part of this game :)


IDK, either the Problem you got is a You Problem, or its a Server Problem, because on Official Server i got 0 Problem finding Stuff i need. Including Military Grade Equipment.

Well it then must be incredibly unfortunate for us that we did not find anything (not even a pistol) in a whole day. Scum isnt all about guns and PVP, we know it, but it would still be great if we had something to defend ourselves against armed guys that we meet through our journey. We went on a different server, managed to find some basic gear like stabproof and maybe few 9mm (which was extremely rare on the other one) but ended up dying from SVD bullets near B2 airport.The other areas were already looted and we could even hear gunshots coming from inside these areas. going there naked is suicide so we had no choise but to go through all map again to finally find some loot and die from another guy with an MK18 not even 2 minutes later.

The problem here is the lack of loot and maybe space, which causes players to all go in points of interest which makes it almost impossible to loot anything.

Well sure there is a lot aswell which is server dependend. But i found, that the Edges of the Map, and i really mean Edges like totaly up to the North(aside from Bunker/Military Areas with Mechs) are often "ignored" by most Player, except for getting starting gear.

Me and my Buddys for Example take Places which are extremly unconvinient to Build a Base there, espacialy after Wipes (in which most need to go from 0 more or less again).... Makes the Game Harder for Sure, but we also more or less are for ourselfs until we are ready.
We build a Basic Base, get Food and Base Equipment and (most importantly for us with this Tactic) 1 or 2 Vehicles. We stay relativly far away from any POI or High Loot Spots and only go there if we need specific Stuff, and operate on a "Low Maintenance" Philosophie.
This way we can Secure at least Mid Gear Stuff for ourself, fill up a Car with Material and Stuff needed to set up a more "Contestable" Base and make our Way into Enemy Territory to Gear up, if we need to.
Or we do extremly "Long" Road Trips from d4 Base to z1 Weapon Factory, to Gear up and stock that Gear so far away from that location.



However overall i think you Guys just got Unlucky or you guys try to hard to compete in a Rush and go for the "Most Efficent" Areas but acting to slow. Take some "lower efficency" Loot Areas if you cant compete in Speed with Other Groups and Build up there. Sure you might need some more Hours to get full Geard and all of that but it should still be doable if you operate in Areas which are Hostile to the "Base Building, Survivng" Aspect and such.

Hey there OP, the amount of loot was actually increased with the 0.9, as for the weapons, you are able to find them in the police stations as well, to start out you don't need the bunker runs, going into bunkers or any other military POi should require you to already have some gear which you could use to defend against threats. No matter if that gear is bows or melee weapons, as long as you can use them to defend yourself you should be good.

Being an old school gamer who doesn't use wasd, I've extensively edited the input.ini with great success.

Sure, a few inputs are hard coded but most controls can be reassigned in the input.ini

You can also get rid of key modifiers like shift or control

Pour chopper des armes rapidement sur un serveur X10, essayes de looter tout les gunshop de Samobor et son commissariat.
J'ai pas essayé sur cette nouvelle version mais les commissariats sont toujours sur équiper.
Par ex sur un serveur X3/5 tu ressorts d'un gunshop avec 2/3 shotgun, 2/3 pistolets et 1 ou 2 sniper (plus souvent les vieux).
Tu devrais pouvoir t'équiper très rapidement. La petite ville sur l'île ou Sud (z2 je crois ) possède un gunshop et l'autre petite ville en Z3 possède un gros commissariat comme Samobor (13 locker) qui devrait contenir beaucoup de chose.

Pour utiliser les touches du pavé numérique à la banque , va dans le fichier input (C:\Users\"usersname"\AppData\Local\SCUM\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor) et recherche une ligne et ajoute NumPadZero pour Zero et ainsi de suite :(ActionName="ATMKey0",bShift=False,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False,Key=NumPadZero)
