getting gas?

so i cant get gas from a gasstation with a bottle anymore any reason for that? i can drink from it tho

Hello :),

To get gasoline from a fuel station you need your Bank card with you and money on your ingame bank account (When you want to fill a container). :)

okay but why. and what happens when i lose the card, and why can i drink it without a card? you can literally rob the cash out of the register of the gasstation and then they want to charge you but dont accept cash? i really dont understand this game mechanic.

As a prisoner on the island, you are of course subject to the authorities, i.e. Tec-1. Accordingly, you have to build up your possessions a bit in order to get hold of the rare and important goods, such as petrol.

Even if you get a small gulp of petrol from the hose, it is not recommended, because your character will vomit very quickly from it. It is also not enough to fill up a canister. It is possible to drink from it because sometimes circumstances are so critical to survival that you have no other choice.

While the mechanics of the gas station are based on the map, the gas station as a building itself is an abandoned one. You can take the money from the register, but that alone doesn't do you much good because the gas station machine only accepts the card.

Losing the card isn't bad in and of itself unless you have a lot of money in the account and another player finds that card, they can then technically empty your account.
You can get new cards from the NPC outposts. Look for the bank building here to buy a new card from the cashier. There are 2, the normal card, which is a card secured with a number, and the gold card, which is definitely more expensive, but has 2 security numbers and also allows you to purchase the ingame currency "gold". Gold is a currency that is very valuable, especially for respawns and also for partial wipes, because after a wipe, you keep the gold and your character progress and can also get money quickly by selling it.

another question: how can the propane canisters be accessed at a gasstation, and whats actually in them?

also is it possible to disable the need of a card at a gasstation? or are there maybe gasstations where you dont need one?

Propane gas is filled in the big tanks next to the fuel stations. With it you can use the kitchen stoves in the prefab houses. To be able to get the gas out of the Tanks you also need here your bank card and a Propane Tank, you can find them in the game world in garages for example.

To the costs, yes! You can disable the costs for both, propane aswell as gasoline inside of your Server Settings in Singleplayer and as server Admin. Just hit ESC while ingame, select Server Settings and adjust the values to your likings. :)

remember - u can die from receipt from gas... there was some guy not paying for a gass in 1939 till 1945 in Germany. when he received a gass bill he died....

Hey there OP, you will need a bank card to refill the fuel in the vehicles and in the bottles, fuel is not free in the game for a while now.

i always try to find undrivable cars and hope i can drain them of gasoline for my car:)

Nooooooo!!!!! I've been Rowing My Boat all over; hoping to on day find a Gas Can... and a Gas Pump; now that I have one; I need money?!? Again.... Noooooo!!!
