Foreseeable upcoming issues with modular vehicles
What do the devs plan to do in regards to modular vehicle parts spawning once all the vehicles get reimplemented back into the game? Allow me to break it down for you.

Currently, loot points for automotive parts are already meek, even on higher loot setting based servers in regards to the different modular parts for each and every vehicle currently in the game it can take you an excessive amount of time just to find the correct tire or the drivers seat for either the WW or Laika, yes I'll come across 20 Laika Alternators in one evenings worth of looting. Currently we have 30+ different spawnable vehicle/bike parts in the game. If adding back the 2 bikes, SUV * pickup or 2 alternative vehicles, plus the tractor and it's parts, 30+ is likely to double or be more upwards towards the 80+ spawnable vehicle parts on the map, so with that being said, finding that correct tire or part you need is likely to get 2-3 times as hard as it is now. Couple that with the constant issues with spawning vehicles not having engines, what do the devs plan to do, if anything, about this? I understand this is supposed to be a survival game although the constant additions of pvp/raid favorable items seems to diminish the actual aspect of survival in this game. Like are you really just trying to make this game that unbearable that people just say screw it and quit? enlighten us oh almighty devs

honestly modular vehicles isn`t something scum needed, while the old system had it`s issues they could have resolved them, personally scum had too many vehicles it did not need and right now they should focus on not adding vehicles that solve nothing but focus on fixing current issues, lets look at planes shall we, people want a plane for raiding a base if all someone wants is to explore the island and see where resources are, why not create a craft able drone with a limited range, and if players do want a flying form of transport for visiting island then give us a diy microlight that only seats one person, out of all the vehicles to make modular only the cars really need it, motorcycles can be spawned in complete maybe find a fuel tank or a seat and then use it, the current system is worse than before if they had just removed some vehicles like tractors and the big 4 by 4`s, and then resolve the issues raised by players it would be fine, right now would be a good time to add a horse and cart craft able version then we have a use for horses in game, i can`t wait to see how the devs bring the vehicles back and how players react to that.

Loot the engineless vehicles. Where's the problem with that?
Either you find the part you need in a garage or you loot it from some wreck.

+1 on this. Just spent a couple hours running from my vehicle to another town and back. I had pulled a wheel off of a Laika. It doesn't fit the WW I'm trying to repair. I'm now taking a break and debating whether or not I want to keep running around trying to find parts. Having to stop constantly for my stamina to recharge. I'm probably going to alter the server settings and just make every vehicle that spawns a complete car. Having used God Mode to see what is involved for upgrading my base, a car is absolutely essential in getting materials. Especially at the higher upgrade levels for concrete and such.

This is just a balance thing. They could make the tractor parts (assuming it's return) spawn at another type of location, like the farms and pole barns. They could reduce the spawning of the parts that aren't absolutely necessary (body panels) for the car to run in favor of tires, seats, etc. They could make the motorcycle tires less likely everywhere else (but not 0%) in favor of the car parts and more likely at the motocross track.

I think Tomislav asked on his twitter (sorry, "X") in one of his posts if people preferred being able to strip a car entirely or wanted it simpler. People should hit up his post or maybe make an open post in the 'suggestions' sub.

Don't get me started on the issues with base building and material requirements. To claim this game is for survival and yet it takes days of making loot runs back and forth to the different poi's for brick, concrete, and gravel yet some jerk can go loot one poi and come out with a couple tnt...more than enough to blow into a metal structure. It's like...why add elements of Rust into Scum when this isn't supposed to be Rust? We didn't need rocket launchers in this game, and now there's rumors of sentry guns for base protection and AA coming to combat the planes in the future? I mean come on....you take all the elements of that into account with this game of starving, never finding anything when looting on vanilla, trying to get a car working before, etc etc. and I might as well go back to playing rust if it's going to get like that ya know? the direction this game is taking comes off absurdly to what it originally was supposed to be.

You cannot do this within the game mechanics you can only make it so that the car will have an engine. It may still require a battery, alternator etc etc.
The wally bot system can but that is a third party and not cheap!

Cars and bikes and planes are not durable enough given just how hard it is to find parts, maintain them and then to top it off expect them to survive combat. Just slapping them around even trying to drive them on roads which are not straight and with stupid long guard rails and with trees poorly maintained mean that you can really only expect a vehicle to survive the distance of maybe 5-10 total sectors before it is destroyed. That makes them and the base building extremely costly given the costs vs benefits.

I dont think one is supposed to regularely find driveable vehicles just so.
I guess its end game content, you will need to work for it. :Nyato:

Its just speculation but this is how its future looks to me.
Mostly one will have to buy the missing or replacement parts and get involved with the mission system.
Seasoned players could collect parts and store them at their base to complete or repair their car. If lucky you find a vehicle to salavage parts from. Also it would be wise to focus on one or two vehicles and only bring those parts back unless you want to play as a car mechanic which would make a good job given the circumstances.

So the first step is working toward aquiring or completing a vehicle
then you have to maintain it and get spare parts to keep it running
finally you upgrade it to your liking with storage space, armor or weapon mounts.

To complement this it could be possible to find engine parts and repair the wrecks or build a vehicle from the ground up and even repair "destroyed" vehicles most of the time, so your vehicle can stay with you unless another player takes it. Maybe with enough skill you could also build some parts or refurbish them for different vehicles. :cybergoat:

To me it seems that vehicles are intended to be realistic and detailed, they are not only for getting you from a to b fast, they will have their own gameplay so you will actually feel proud when driving one down the road. And yeah it wont be the american way of life where you drive everywhere, walking will be part of the game. :t0chocobo:

Vehicles seem to be tiered, given their use and complexity. Some are easy to aquire and some are rare and prestigeous.
- Rafts you can just build it.
- Bycycles are simple dont need so many parts and you can craft some of them easily.
- Bikes dont have much storage but need less parts gets you around fast.
- Cars need many parts but are of great use.
- Trucks need many rarer and more expensive parts but offer more storage, upgrades and durability.
- Planes most complex top tier vehicle.
- Utility Vehicles (only aquired in bunkers and dangerous zones) maybe some Military Trucks or TEC1 APCs durable enough to survive combat encounters but you get parts only in protected bunkers.

To my impression the whole modular system will feel pretty good once it is complete and balanced with all other features in the game, we just have to wait. :spiffo:

how easy or differcult would it be to add some code so if there is 15 laika`s and 18 wheels between them, then the traders have the exact number of wheels to sell to get everyone running, this should not be a problem that exists.

The last thing we needed are engine bays turned into a Tetris Minigame.
The ability to use items in your hand without having to enter the inventory would have been better.

I guess it would be optional. Can still search for vehicles with working engine or buy them.
But it would be an option to repair wrecks without working engines or "destroyed" vehicles if you crash it into a tree. (The vehicles that spawn without engine now would of course spawn with broken engines instead)
Pretty sure it wont go down to attaching specialized screws, likely like other mechanics in the game you will just find generalized packs of vehicle engine parts and need a certain number and of course an engine block to repair.

the issue i see with modular is this: Why does the ENTIRE vehicle take damage if i hit a tree? my bumper and fenders should not the entire vehicle

Hey there OP, that is the entire point of modular vehicles, having one requires some effort to gather required parts, do note that you can have a bare bone vehicle and you will be able to drive it, even if you don't have all the wheels on the vehicles.
