What causes "Server Temporarily Unavailable"?

so today i took the day off to do an epic cross map hike i had been planning but for the whole day I've had "Server Temporarily Unavailable" on the server, I've restarted my PC and my modem/router and validated the game folder but still "Server Temporarily Unavailable" I can get on other servers fine just not the one i want lol, so what causes it? is it a local thing or a server issue? are there steps we can take to fix or mitigate the issue or is it just a case of wait for a server restart to potentially fix the issue? the server I'm trying to join is a official one and i have not had the issue before with this one, i have on others tho

just interested to know what the issue may be :)

If you in Aus, that's the issue. Possible master server issues in Aus, gamepire is on it but no eta.

One can generally say that with such a message servers are under maintenance. However, you cannot exactly identify the problem with this message and unfortunately you cannot give an ETA when the corresponding server will go online again.

makes sense, however its now been 24 hours and im still getting the same error, battle metrics is showing players online too, its weird, i wonder what the issue could be

That error had effected one of our admins. Like you they could get on other servers but not ours. Over time it just corrected itself.
I have seen posts that deleting your saved files had helped a few players!

nope, i unfortunately haven't had any luck with it as yet, but i had a scum itch to scratch so i jumped in SP and has a look around, was totally worth it, however still no luck on the server, i don't think its on my side as i can play on SP and also on another server i have played on before, just not the one i want to play on, looks like at this stage its just a waiting game :( its OK tho i can be patient if i need to be hahaha

EDIT : yea, i just tried again, still get Server Temporarily Unavailable

Not on a multiplayer server...your character is saved on the server itself.
That is why any time we join a new server we need to create a character all over again!
You will loose anything done in single player so you would have to back up that file first!

I’m not sure if this has already been posted, but sometimes these steps help with a lot of issues:

**- delete your save files here:**
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\SCUM

**-Then verify your game files through Steam**
Right click on SCUM in your game library - Properties-Local Files-Verify Integrity of Game Files
**
-Then repair your Easy Anti Cheat -**
Right click on SCUM in your game library - Properties-Local Files-Browse Local Files-Open EasyAntiCheat-Open EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe-Click either Install or Repair.

I usually delete that file after every major updates installation.
For some reason I always end up getting kicked slowly at first and then more frequently from the servers if I don't delete that file periodically!

Normally it would also remove my favorites links to the servers but atm they broke that!

NAILED IT!!!

deleting my saved files fixed it, connected right away, something must have corrupted on my side when i last left the server, I've been in and out twice now to check it and its all good again :)

bugger, its started happening again, i've tried the fix on 2 separate computers, it downloads my character and then docent connect, on one of the computers it downloaded the character naked rather than in its gear which is concerning, any idea what it could be? at this stage it has to be the server right?

ive noticed that it does not show up in the server browser either, so it has to be the server.

damn this is frustrating, im trying to make some changes to the character before the wipe happens
