Towns
I reinstalled SCUM and one thing come to my mind.
The loot reduction push players to do repeating looting game sessions.
To optimize playtime, most users will end up to choose always the best loot locations, aka milirary POIs.

And the new players that spend time looting town or small group of buildings keep writing in chat "can't find anything" "no items found simulator" etc.
And this reflect my experience too, when I spend some time inside a town.

[Btw I don't think that the lack of items from containers (aka "no times found") makes me feel that resources are low. It just makes me feel that something inside the game is "broken", like a bug]

As Traders can give you anything you need there is no point in spending hours looting in casual places just to find nothing.
You directly go to major loot locations and sell to traders what you don't use. Then you can buy anything you need, from food to crafting materials.

So...why should I go to towns? Honestly I don't know.
Maybe for someone it is relaxing to keep opening empty boxes....

Seriously looting should not be the only reason to travel around and to spend time inside a location.

Maybe in future could be that towns are safer places compared to wilderness or military POIs. But this is known only to you devs.

For sure having another reason to push player to explore the world, enter towns and other small villages it is not bad.

Here some examples.

Some wounds could be healed only by using a medical device that is inside a pharmacy / medical lab in some towns.

Some special mods to weapons could be done only in a specific tools that are inside towns. (not the drill machine that are everywhere, but something that is present only in some towns).

Or maybe you need a car garage to add future custom addons to vehicles.

Mission : visit that town...

Some clothing (shoes for example) could require a special machine to repair them.

You could need a kitchen to prepare some advanced dishes (cooking rework coming into the game)

And so on.

I gave up on looting and never go to traders as I don't see the point of having them and a cash system in a survival game. I rely on airdrops and get all the things I need from them, be it weapons, food, gas, gear, etc.

just to toss my 2 cents in there on loot, i found 0.7 and .08 have the best vanilla loots so far.. i honestly do not mind the low levels of loow it makes sense... were in season 2 and it makes what you do find worth that much more.... people shouldnt compare the loot drops on here to a game thats not scum...

too many people literally want to find an item in every box...
it becomes too easy when i can enter one bunker and find everything i need to go run and gun from there..

i also dont mind the idea of more localized loot so you HAVE to go to some spots to find some loot seems like i could pick a bunker and find any gun out of the loot table..

maybe IDK how hard it would be to code but have loot tables rotate the bunkers
like only one or two bunkers can spawna set of special weapons and those bunkers switch randomly throughout all bunkers but also have the rate of spawn also affect if it spawns even if you are at the right bunker or w/e spot

Good to know Kick, but my point was more please give some love to towns, make them attractive to all players, even endgame ones. So not just loot.

Maybe special NPC to kill, missions, special tool for crafting / healing / fixing, special locations that can spawn special loot, etc.

Thinking locations not just for loot could add more depth to the whole island.

Someone suggested a similar thing some time ago.
Like airdrops, bunkers could be announced and for a small amount of time we can find special loot, higher change of dropping specific items, etc.

It will attract players to that location and make the TV show much more intriguing!

There is no report in the dev updates about towns....or maybe I missed it.

This is one of the main problems in the game, some people do not go anywhere, they sit in their sector. We need motivation so that people move around the map. Plus close the bunkers with map entry, make some loot in certain places...

Yes that was my point. Players are not encouraged to move their ass! :D

Sometimes players keep looting the same place, over and over, and never explore the whole island.

Agreed. But not only the towns and villages need some more to offer, same goes for the Klenovnik hospital or the sanatorium in Samobor. I'd expect more medical stuff and not the usual crap. Fine, there's some food and drink, but that's about it.
Okay, the whole place is nice and looks good.

Meds? Bunker. Firearms? Bunker. Food and water? Bunker. Ammo? Bunker.

But since they said the whole loot system is getting a rework I'd guess we'll see.

thats just it .... its not a pvp first game =| soo yea expecting the game to "force" people to go to one spot and have a fight over it... makes no sense... thats what the cargo drops are for

again the random spot rotation.. and could even have the cargo drop have the rare thing like you want .. have people fight over that
