They are no where near as deadly as they were four years ago. Definitely not the experience of back in the day.
In my opinion its better in terms of graphic quality, game play, and overall enjoyment. PVP is no different than Day Z. See someone, shoot em, end of story. Zombies aren't the spastic teleport machines they are in Day Z. Weapons feel and sound good. Crafting is satisfying. The mechs according to devs are being reworked (thank the lord) which is good because they lack any kind of counter play what so ever. They don't aim bot like they used to, you have a decent chance of getting away from them if you're spotted.
I lost a 1,000 hrs play of Interloper in the Long Dark. It's nothing compared to this, you can spend weeks building a base, log in and it's gone to C4. You can get one tap from a camo camper with an M82 and lose everything instantly. This game will break you emotionally, it's not for everyone.
Think of it as permadeath but with the ability to come back and look at your destroyed base and corpse.
Actually it isnt. Because in Day Z it doesnt matter if you kill a newb or the most established of players, they are gone, never to return to the same fight. ***because day z is more balanced***
In Scum an established player can be killed, then respawn and grab a weapon from a nearby car and kill the player who just killed them 4 minutes ago while they are looting. Hundreds maybe thousands of SCUM players get robbed of their victories every day because of this.
***this is a fundamental flaw in SCUM and is holding this game back***
SCUM has balance issues compared to day Z, and that is a significant difference.
