Nope, Happened to me too. I got beat up pretty badly by a group of puppets. Had six or so infected C1's. Once they got to recovery and sat there, I got the same message of the cuts getting infected. Once I swam across a river 4 of them went away. I used a bottle of booze on the other two and they healed up just fine. I don't mind the uptick in infections, they virtually never happened prior to this patch.
I don't mind them either .... as long as I have some way to treat them.
However, once the wound heals (or rather, closes) while infected, no amount of alcohol/desinfectant will help you and you have to keep your immunity high via vitamins and antibiotics and you have to keep monitoring the effect as it'll get incurable real fast if you are not being careful.
My character died because i was careless with this yesterday :3
I got 3 c1 hits from a puppet and all 3 got to infection state. immune system was only doing half the work of fighting bacteria. (2.2 per hour while infection was growing 4.5 per hour) I am not sure if, if it was just 1 wound my immune system is fighting it would have been ok to heal it? In other words, your immune system is spread thin over multiple wounds, like irl
Puppets have always been too easy so people thought the answer was to multiply the damage they do (killing you in 3 hits etc) but this was silly and often frustrating as you could get trapped fighting two at once and were bound to get hit and die.
Now we get a chance to reverse the infections with time and some supplies.
Means you need to be very careful in fist days is all.
This also might hint that keeping your clothes clean will reduce the chance of infections.
Try not to get more than 1 puppet on you so you can do the dance with them-step into them as they are moving towards you this breaks their movement shortly and allows you to get a hit in then step back they swing miss then step in. It is a dance step in step out step in step out.
Remove the dirty clothes from where the injury is then patch the wound with a clean rag or disinfected rag then put the clothes back on.
As your con goes up your chance of infection goes down.
As you get more game time in you will learn how to fight them.
- Clean Clothing. Makes a much larger difference than you think. Especially the torso and legs.
- Absinthe and decently reasonable rags (the style that does not look horribly grubby). This makes very good Aseptic Wraps which are the best healing item outside of the Phoenix Tears. They are decently easy to make and cleanse the wounds when using.
- Combine the two above when out adventuring.
Helpful Tips:
- Once you have a car make two separate bags.
- I usually use the Green or Red standard cloth back pack to use as my Medical Bag. Place 1 bottle of 10/10 Absinthe. Top row with various pills like Antibiotics, Anti-Radiation pills....etc. All the rest of the rows with Aseptic Wraps.
- 2nd bag is clean clothing at 100%. Can make plenty of various outfits for this but have some cold weather gear like the Pilot's Jacket and multiple pairs of socks and underwear. They dirty fast. You can even use another bag for the dirty clothing to be washed or sold off if you don't want to spend the cash on soaps.
Guys, seriously, I'm talking about when you first spawn in, when you don't have any of those things, and not in a location where you're likely to find them. You're lucky if you can even find any rags to treat the wounds. All the other suggestions you gave ... I know, ok? Thanks for the info, but it wasn't what I was asking.
