Chinese/Asian costumes........ Why?
What link is there to SCUM island and anything Chinese/Asian in this game? Is this how you have to market a new audience? Seeing these outfits definitely doesn't fit with an Eastern European theme, but maybe I'm just a dreaded xenophobe for even questioning this. Where are the other weapons that were shown to us months ago like the SCAR but these came out of nowhere. Yea, guess the acquisition had nothing to do with this at all. So whose culture will be injected into the game next? The bank teller, hairdresser and now Asian apparel.

Exactly Why??????????????????? ♥♥♥♥♥ stupid.
MeanStreak Jan 20, 2023 @ 1:37pm
what's wrong with that?...why can't there be multiple cultures on a prison island? You think there are no asians in Europe? I think there should be even more variation of clothes items.
You forget this is a game. Anything and everything can be included.

Chinese new year aside, these costumes are highly stereotypical, like is China still living in the 19th century? There are many other ways to honor this culture, why not all rabbit related items and outfits since we are entering the year of the rabbit? Nope, and what about those storefronts??? Beyond ridiculous and insulting.

I live very far from China but almost everything I buy is made in China... also the Chinese New Year is being celebrated and it's just an event for that reason. I can't understand how something like this affects you :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

It is because of the chinese new year.

For the same reason there are kilts and other cultural wear... so that there is variety.

Celebrate modern China and the New Year of the rabbit, not stereotypes. This looks EXACTLY like the old racist Tintin comic book The Blue Lotus!

Hello :),

SCUM is not focused on any specific nationality but has prisoners from all over the world in its setting. So it is by no means unreasonable that other cultures and things from their past are added, as has already been done with the medieval sword and medieval helmet.

So SCUM is cosmopolitan in every respect and that also offers the possibility of adding something specific from every culture. a timeline of when these things existed is not necessary because it ultimately serves to entertain the masses watching the TV show SCUM.

This response is much appreciated. It gives a better story of the game itself. On another note... player respawn is giving me a headache. I almost rage quit the other day when a mech killed me through a wall...

Why don't we all dress the same across the world - we all just wear the exact same outfit, eat the same food, maybe we should all dye our hair the same colour.
If we always have to only celebrate "modern" things as you put it, then say goodbye to any history and traditions there ever were, across the world.

There's always going to be that person getting butthurt over just about anything.
It's a game. Get over it.
I want more clothes. Stereotypical or not.

These are traditional Chinese clothing. As an asian I find you to be a disgrace.

One extra building in the city and the addition of a few cosmetic items that can look pretty cool on the occasion of one of the most celebrated holiday worldwide. Like you, I don't care for this particular holiday but it doesn't seem like an unfair addition and unlikely to take much steam out of other teams working on cooler stuff.

That is your interpretation and not what I meant, look up "modern Chinese outfit" and you will get millions of results showing modern designs with traditional patterns. This is just lazy implementation of stereotypes. Do you think all of China is wearing old costumes to celebrate the new year? There is a time and place to wear traditional outfits, like they still do in China and Japan, this is not it.

Asian or Chinese? I showed the outfits to a friend of mine who is Chinese and he was extremely offended, his own words: "wtf I never even owned that kind of clothing". So yeah my point stands.
