Above all, it is important what you like yourself. This is the first step for a base in single player. Do you like engineering structures or rather a solid flatland base, do you like "adventure" or a solid starting point or both? Take a look at the map and, above all, take your time to explore it. There is always that one place somewhere where you really want to build a base and you can almost see it before your eyes.
What you can keep in mind is the following: Above all, make sure that the blue machines that you can find in POI's are nearby. Because with an improvised workbench you will only be able to produce moderately good items and it is maintenance-intensive. On the other hand, the blue machines are not and offer you a great support.
Water is a question of whether you need it just like food. If you want to grow it yourself, we recommend a location near a river or lake so that you have unlimited fresh water available. This reduces the cost of some actions and provides a good source of base survival. But of course it is also possible to build a well yourself. Although this is limited in quantity, it can still serve as a good water source if you do not necessarily want to host fields. The same goes for food, depending on the zone (Snow, Mediterranean, Temperate or Forest) the supply of food is different. The harsher the environment, the more difficult it can be to grow or find plants. A river or lake is also recommended here because you can also go fishing here if necessary. From my own experience, hunting is also an option here.
So it's always a question of personal needs and how you would like to live, what you like as ambient and what you really need.
But here are a few scout locations that in my opinion have always proved to be quite reasonable:
B2 East of Spickovina is a small lake and Mediterranean place mixed with forest. It is very central and important places can be reached very quickly from here. The terrain is fairly flat and offers many natural resources.
C1 East of Veliki Tabor is a small farm connected to a lake and the general river system that leads to the ocean. This farm even features blue working machines in the buildings and proved to be the most efficient location for base building. The house and the fences are a great addition.
A0 The peninsula in the south-west part. This position is empty but well buildable. Here I like to build crazy bases and let off steam very creatively. A dealer is quickly reached and many caves are also available. A direct connection to the sea and fresh water is also given by the estuary of the river in the ocean.
D4 Novi Glog, west of the Large Military Airport. This place is unassuming at first, but turned out to be very lucrative for me. Many connections to large and heavily populated POIs enable a large resource-rich base. Also within the place (if the base building restrictions are deactivated) you can build a great little base that even has garages ready.
C2 North of the large Tec-1 bunker system. An inconspicuous base with proximity to the dealers. Above all, essential military goals are close and if you know the exit at the dam, the connection to the island is very good. However, gas stations are rather rare in this area, which means that you have to set up and maintain a "gas station yourself. (So a cupboard with a lot of petrol cans in it.)
Z2 Between Novigrad and the train station. This position lends itself very well as there are resources in abundance here. The only deficit is the lack of water. With Novigrad and the train station and the torpedo factory nearby, as well as dealers who can be reached quickly and easily, you have a good starting point.
A4 landing strips. Lots of space to build, large hangar and good connections to the whole island. Anyone who likes to fly can build a fantastic base here. Large general resources for nails, scrap metal, etc., however, are rather few here.
if not that try for a hill with some flat land and stagger some barbwire going up to your base this prevents people from jumping over the barbwire...
location wise i would say north east of the c1 town south of the snowline...or south east of the junkyard
If you line prefabs i would say look up the cabin on the map and find something that you like ...
