From a purely technical point of view you can set up a base there, but you will run into problems quite quickly.
The first problem is anything you move into this zone will become radioactive. Eating, drinking, tools, clothing, etc. Sooner or later this will lead to problems, especially when eating.
The Radiation Suit can protect you, but is ineffective if you need to eat as mentioned above. Because for that you have to take off this suit. Foodstuffs, including those found in contaminated forests, are contaminated with radioactivity. The consumption will therefore lead to poisoning depending on the severity of the consumed dish.
If the suit is damaged too badly during a battle, it will lose its effectiveness here as well. Escape to the base will then only help a little because the poisoning will inevitably take effect.
However, there is nothing wrong with setting up an interim storage facility within the zone because, as you can see, these objects are particularly well protected, if only because of the environmental conditions.
Thank you for the reply! I really like the place so far even though it's so eerie! I'll make sure to leave that place to eat and drink it might be really time consuming but I think I'll give it a try! :-) Let's hope the suit will protect me well I've got plenty of duct tape.
From the atmospheric point of view, I would "live" there again at any time XD, but i leave it as a small "Scout" collection point with all the important components for emergencies. ^^ But I'm there almost every day collecting and searching.
Got a bit of Gun Runners from Fallout NV style with me XD. Heaps of spare parts and weapon restoration, ammunition is available separately haha.
Yes you can even get in the broken reactor. Its my usual way to the Crates for Uranium :D.
I adore this setting myself a lot, cant get enough of it and did a extensive areal search for the area already but still visit the many sites again and again. Especially the Campsite is realy dived into this special ambience. Did knew the place before Nuclear update, was bright and realy adorable, now its the opposit but still enjoy it.
character simply because there is nothing of value to me at that location, and i have better things to do than deal with radiation sickness in a game, the mystery in the trailer and the hype didn`t amount to anything, and the new mutants must still be walking to the island with no eta of when or even if they will turn up in game, right now even a ghost at the power plant would be something to visit it for but not in scum at least not right now.
Speak please for yourself, not in behalf of everyone.
I was able to setup a base and everything works well so far. The only problem is eating and drinking like mentioned above. But that's no big deal. I love the power plant and I'm very happy that they added it to the game. I can't wait to encounter mutants in the future :-)
I probably won't go back there with my main character unless it was completely worth it.
As to making a base there? Trying to get the Fallout experience and become a Feral Ghoul or something? There is absolutely no reason to legit build a base in that region. I know it is a game but why would anyone even think this is a good idea....especially considering how realistic radiation is done in this game.
