What are the ideal stats/skills to start with in .8?
Hey, new player here. I already have 40 hours messing around in an unofficial server, and will probably make a new build around it. It's pve with very active pvp zones, and no raiding (Real Castaways if anyone has heard of it)

My original stats on my first time playing the game were 2.5 str, 2 con, 2.5 dex and 5 int. After being in game for a while i've learned that lockpicking and demolition are very damn hard to level, and i started with 0 in them. Is this supposed to take weeks or months to master? I mainly want those 2 skills for the grind bypass and the killboxes

And while i'm at it, what other skills are considered tedious to level? I was thinking this time around to level these : Engineer to advanced, Running/Endurance to medium, Melee to a bit above medium. I am torn between maxing out lockpick or demolition. I can max one and put another in medium, which will pay off more in the long run?

Sorry for all these question and making it seem like I want to min/max. I know people here encourage other to play how they want, but obviously I gimped myself pretty bad apart from the max engineer lol so i need advice

o...need c4? you'll need a squad. Then. You'll need them to help u with the killzboxes. unless u stack up on guns and ammo from bunkers and try it out on your own, which has a youtube tutorial.
to get started? Or to be a squad and start relying on the squads lack of building precommunicated requirements to kick ass?

Like other games. there are tactics to use to go this way or the other. It is up to you, and your squad to determine what is needed, and if you will sacifiice yourself to be a part of the team where it is lacking.

Hello :),

The best is always what you are most comfortable with and what suits your playing style. As you have already pointed out yourself, there are various skills that you value and these should be the focus.

For those who really need it, intelligence is also an important factor and should be at least lvl 3 to be able to reach the advanced category here, or if you're planning a larger squad, you should increase intelligence even further as that's the only core attribute that doesn't get boosted can be.

Everything else really depends on your playstyle. What you really want right at the beginning and what you can do without.

Survival skills level up relatively quickly overall, which is why I recommend having engineering at least on medium so that you can build all the necessary components and also strengthen your base a bit.

Locks opening or demolition is hard to tell. From my killbox experiences, opening locks was more suitable than demolition.

Melee is also a slow skill, so increasing it makes sense while other ranged weapons are boosted relatively quickly.
