SCUM

TRADERS
Unpopular opinion but i really do feel like the traders have made the game worse, the idea was a good one i get it, but having them around for a long ish time now, its making it a non survival game imo, instead of looting a town coming into a pvp fight being happy you looted his body and found nails/bolts etc for your base your not bothered now as you just go and buy what you need like its B&Q from the traders, squads have tons of money buying things 10x over instead of going around having to find each item. the games meant to be the best survival game out there, since when if your surviving out on a island there's shops just takes the survival part of the game away imo

And if you ignore the traders?

+1 mil, but seems that devs don't listen to this kind of suggestions.
As I said many, many times, traders nullify each SCUM mechanic, from metabolism to raiding

FP cost was a very, very good solution to this, but again devs choosed to listen to a majority of newbies that in 2-3 months is playing another game, forgetting SCUM.

Server admins can control the trader prices and available inventory quite a bit. I agree that vanilla traders are way too OP but that's why I'm playing on a server that does not allow trader interaction.

I understand that it seems to break the balance for you. I understand that you say it makes the game easy.
And I understand that to make money you'll have to get to the trader alive.
Also I understand that it's no more 50FP but unlocking items for more than that.
And one more: I understand that with vanilla settings, that's low loot, it's most of the time No Item Found.
So, I'm asking you, how can you loot a town and find enough items to sell?
And, please, don't say olives again or say it's super easy; it's about someone new to the game, how would they do all this.

We have a choice now. Don't go to the Traders if you don't want to.

Personally, I like having the choice. My private server is very hard....loot is better than Vanilla but the game is over all a lot harder. Players have a choice to go to the Traders or not.

Not a snide comment but....do you Anti-Traders have so little resolve that you cannot tell yourself => No?

Where do you control trader inventory and prices? Server.ini? I couldn't find it in admin settings, Also I'm talking about a traders available cash to buy stuff.

This is from my server. Yours will be similar. It is important to keep notes of what you change. Every patch this needs to be Freshened then configured again.

What is stopping you from playing on a server that has no traders or creating a server and set it to your liking!

there's like one server that has no traders so not too many options;
everybody can play SP or start their own server but that's not the same...

Traders break the game, not for me. For anyone that is not a newbie.
I understand you are a bit disoriented, but it's quite normal when starting to play a new game.
But from a wider point of view, from someone that have played a bit the game, traders nullify the surival concept, as it will become a way to avoid going around and take any risk. Trust me, if you like surival game, in 100-200 hours you'll end up with the same observation.

Beware, olive was a devs example, not mine! Here on forum!

It's just experience. Loot in town respawn every 30 min.
You just need to find the right time and you will fill a hiking backpack of stuff. I usually end up with 2 backpacks full of stuff before even finishing to loot the whole town.

Tell me your base location and I can give plenty of tips where you can loot.
But, if I was you, I'll discover it by myself not to ruin the experience. This is a fun part of game, a player progression.
If you were forced to go around like at the beginning of 0.8 (as was in the past) you'll learn the game by just playing it. In the past you needed guide to enter a bunker, but not now. No need to learn anything.

So even in 0.7, after devs lowered the loot a lot, we still have a lot of resources for BB, food, water, crafting, weapons, ammo, etc.
THere is only a sort of a bug in RNG engine when sometimes a town is empty and remain like that for more than 30 mins, but this I hope will be fixed.

Going back to the main game aspect : survival.
I'll give you an example.
What is the meaning of metabolism engine if we have access to any kind nutrient and infinite food and water? Even now you can't die bye lack of food. You can faint...but dying is nearly impossible even for a character with 1 in constitution.

In the past we used to fight for resources like vehicles...now you just go to mechanics and buy parts. No need to scavenge the island for finding them.

Same for weapons, no need to take any risk going into a POI / bunked.

So the game will be...loot town, get junk, sell junk, get weapon, go to pvp, die, respawn.
At this point I prefer a battle royal game like PUBG (apart cheaters.)

When 0.8 came out we were forced to go around and loot to earn FP. And this push players aorund. Island was much more alive, many gunfights, got wounds, heal, more encounters, everything was more dynamic. Comparing to 0.7 was another game.

It was a very good decision to use FP as a currency.

Again it's not me, it's about game mechanics.
Play a bit the game and then come back to give your considerations about traders.
I understand that for newbies is a nice addon, but after few hours it will become boring.
Trust me.

I only play on official servers AS I WAS interested in the developing of the game.
This is not a finished game, who care about private servers.

Se my point? I'm interested on the development, others on just playing it.

Before version 0.8, I was in favor of making trading more difficult. Let there be trade itself, but those complications with 0.8 fame points are not enough. It needs to be limited somehow.
Ideally, probably: one person sold something to a merchant and another can only buy what the merchant has there. And there should be limits too.

Huh? Play a bit of the game? 246hrs and not slowing down at all (this game will be 5k+ hrs for certain). I play the game. My server is very difficult...even with 3.0 Loot Settings....looting Drink and Food is fairly rare. All the loot is like nice gifts that May or May Not gives something nice.

I make my shopping list weekly of what I need at the Traders for Drink and Food and buy mostly Canned Food, Cereal, Milk, Chocolate with Dried Berries....a few other things.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What you are going on and on about here is not about Game Mechanics....it is all about play perspective. With this latest update we have BOTH choices now.

It seems to me your habit is going to a farm field and loot food....grapes...corn....olives...etc. That is fine....that is super boring....especially setting up your base next to these. It STILL is a personal choice. If it is TOO easy then just don't do it. YOU have that choice and you are breaking under YOUR own Will Power.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe you don't like shopping at the market in real life. If you do make a shopping list for your in game play then ONLY shop that stuff at the Traders then you have created a little Mini-Game for yourself. Want to add/subtract from that list? Update your list. Very quickly you will figure out how often you are needing to go to the Traders....and....how much Cash you need on hand or in the Bank to purchase your stuff. If it is NOT on your list you are NOT allowed to buy it. Put it on the list next time.

This is a simple example that can also be applied to real life to stay out of debt. Funny how well it works in game when applied.
