How do I write on signs?

Title gives it away. How do I paint on signs? I built a blank sign and even in the item description it says that you can write on it. I got no option for that, not by right clicking it and not by holding F. I even tried it with a pen... And yes, it's inside the flags territory

I think the dev's are aware of this, this is something they will fix

EDIT Update: After a server restart the blank signs are no longer editable and the previous text is gone. I will make a bug report on this.

I just did a few blank signs. When you select F Change Name the box is in the center of the display. When you inventory is open it will likely be behind a window.

I made six to identify boxes and other things and they all worked.

Just place the "Blank Sign" in the game world and aim with the mouse at it. An option should appear now telling you to press "F" key, it will open a window where you can set your text.
