Just remember to store them away before you leave. ;b
Until then I usually go with the standing torches. There's a trick if they're running out of fuel, go into crouch position and move your mouse up, so that you're basically looking towards the ceiling of your cabin and the room magically gets bright enough to see. :)
This way you can quickly see how much still fits in. However, it becomes complicated if you place 28 of them in just one hut.
Yes, you can use all variations of the Flashlight which are M9, Desert Eagle , Improvised and AS Val/VSS Vintorez.
Another thing is ...not sure if this is part of the many current audio bugs but I absolutely LOVE that the advanced standing torches are SO very quiet now
I appreciate the improvised fireplace the most because I'm actually only mobile and very rarely build a dwelling :D. Loud is a bit ambivalent for me because I like to dream into the campfire and let my thoughts be if I don't have a specific goal. I even found the volume to be quite pleasant. (Well, admittedly, I never really made my speakers very loud on the PC.) However, I never really preferred it as a light source.
That is a good trick, I usually prefer standing torches, but if you want something else, the work light is quite strong and will illuminate quite a huge area. Just be sure to store it before you go away as it might despawn.
