How will modular base building differ from Rust's honeycomb/bunker/tower meta?
I'm excited for modular base building as a whole, but I'm concerned base building will devolve into what Rust's base building meta has become.

I'm also wondering if base raiding mechanics will get another balance pass. Everyone just buries chests because locks can be picked too easily.

Other than that, I've very excited for future updates.

Hello :),

That's something we'll find out when the time comes. :)

From the first impressions, which represent little of what is actually possible, it is already evident that a lot will be possible.
The developers have already shown a lot of love for the details of the MBB (Modular base building), for example there were first insights at dedapong's Twitter [twitter.com] which provides a nice initial inspiration of what's going to be possible.

So it's always exciting on this front and it remains to be seen in which way and how it can then be played. :)

MBB looks amazing, I just hope the player base doesnt create monsters that cut your FPS in half when you turn to look at them in the distance.

Why wouldn't people honeycomb? It's the meta for a reason. More layers == harder to raid.

True, but its not realistic. People would make thicker walls, not pockets of empty space. And if the devs are creating a game where your character has a functional digestive system, I would imagine they're going for realism in its base building as well.

thats a hard request right there. i cant think of ANY base building game where a player didnt make a huge monstrosity of a base.

i remeber something about particular skill level(s) will determine how much floors or levels to your base and i guess by extension maybe how many walls ur character can build in a specified time. makes sense if they going for some realism

Lock picking isnt the only problem, and may not be the problem at all.

Whats wrong is the ease of finding bases (just found one from the air in minutes suiciding/respawning) and now im going to use the screwdrivers i farmed with alts to break in.

Can players still use macros lock picking? if so thats another problem that needs to be fixed.

...Welp failed to get in with many drivers, cuz im not that great at lock picking, but while i was in a bush making picks, another fresh spawn ran up to the base, obviously he found it the same way i did, from the air on respawn.

He then committed suicide at the locked door....

Its dumb we can do this... as player after player leave scum prematurely because of unbalanced gameplay...

Hey there OP, unfortunately, there is no available information as of now that I could share with you in regards to modular base building. :)

Hopefully the system will offer some degree of creativity and not just very basic geometry.
(thinking about Valheim, or even Subnautica to some extent - different approaches)
