Tips on Base Lighting?
Bonfires work well outside, but haven't found any great sources of lighting for inside. Any tips will be appreciated.

Hello :),

During my base builds, it was always important to me to light up access points. This saved me from using too many light sources and only lighting the necessary points. Also, one could illuminate only Essential Navigation Points. Too much light would eventually make the base much more visible at night than having just a few specific light sources but powerful enough to light the way.

Which light sources do you use? This is what I am having trouble with is trying to find a light source that works and isn't crazy to maintain. Chandelier does not work.

The Improved Ground Flare is highly recommended. You issue these from e.g. Brake oil (5/20 units required.) , a long wooden stick and scrap metal. It can be filled with wood and has a very pleasant burning time.

I usually fill them up with 3 wooden boards in the evening, but they burn almost the whole night and don't bother much when it rains. :)

PS: The name may not be the same in English. Look in your base building crafting list under No Skill for the Metal Ground Torch version.

Why not use that as bait lol?

Like set up a fake entrance all lit up but booby trap the heck out of it.

One of many ways to play with the lights. :) Sometimes a bad saying but: "Like the moths that fly to the light."

Hey there OP, best ones you can use are torches. That will help you light out your base.

Can we have an object with slots for light source only as a bb element. Just as pistol holster is for pistol only, a bb object to be able to set in a position then add lamp/construction light to it. N it don't despawn. Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr tell me "wait a bit, we're working on electricity and soon u can place light socket and search for bulbs, but bare in mind bulbs can be easily broken if shot at".

My buddy just built a bonfire on top of his medium cabin and it works great. And it's hilarious looking. And no, it doesn't cause damage to the cabin surprisingly.

Hi the devs added gas lanterns a while back they were great for lighting up a base and had a brightness control too. I think you could also refill them with gasoline but not to sure about that. I think they despawned if you logged off and there was mention of that being fixed so they stayed in place after server resets etc but I don't know if that was fixed too.

The lanterns are awesome, but there needs to be a way to craft them into a permanent fixture.

As long as your lighting is fire based, it'd be asinine to make any of it permanent

Permanent lightning already exists, it's torches and fires you can craft. You can place them as BP in your base and then light them up, you need to maintain them and relight them once they go off. For lanterns and other light sources for now there is nothing that would make them stay permanently on the ground in the base.

Gas lamps and work lights should be made persistent. It sucks when you first notice they aren't persistent when they disappear on you 😕

Maybe in the future when items that are left on the ground won't have such a huge effect on the server's performance.

I don't know what you mean by this. The craftable standing torches are permanent base items and they're both fire based...
