Range finding with hunting scope?

I've been trying for several days now, looked up videos on Youtube and can't seem to get it to work. I double tap left ctrl and nothing happens, is there something else to this?

I think you only tap left ctrl once then look at the scope display and see if it gives you numbers

One tap on hold breath key. Wait couple of sec while keeping scope on target. Depending on scope skill level, range will show up on left side.

Holding "hold breath" key would do just that, hold breath and reduce weapon sway at same time.

Default bind is to CTRL key, but if you have rebinded it to something else, it may not work as in video.

That was it! I reassigned the key to the right mouse button so I held my breath with I zoomed in and didn't realise that left ctrl did two functions, thanks.
