Suppressed pistols
For some reason when I fire pistols it attracts every puppet in the area. Even agro on puppets above me when I'm in the bunker. I get a train of puppets out of no where. This is with the Block and the m9. I can shoot a suppressed AK or M1 and puppets wont agro from any considerable distance.
Anyone else notice this happening?

Hi Sketty,
Were you using silencers on Block21 and M9 too?
We have some sound issues which will be fixed soon.
Sketty Oct 9, 2022 @ 5:28am
Yes both are having that issue.

Just think of it as being realistic, in real life suppressed guns are not like in Hollywood movies ;-D

My issue isnt with the distance of the sound on a flat plane. My issue is that puppets are agroing from above the bunker and running down to me. They shouldnt be able to hear it while im inside the bunker. Puppet inside the bunker sure. But I had a beeper run from above me down into a bunker and almost kill me because it heard my suppressed pistol shot.

first thing, you should try closing doors behind you

+1 also open doors lets other players know you are there. close that ♥♥♥♥ imediately

But yes, the sound issue in bunkers has been there for a while, and the perceived radius it seems, like the beepers will trigger and blow above you and the rest of them carry on like they can see/ here you. there needs to be some sort of sound occlusion added to the bunker walls and ceiling. you can also hear players footsteps from several rooms away. not sure if any of thats been fixed, havent been to a bunker since 7.5

That hardly has anything to do with the issue Im having. Sure it might stop them from running train on me but the train shouldn't be happening in the first place.

Suppressed pistols are not quiet at all, 165-167 dB for 45acp and 9mm pistols They just reduce the report from a immediately harmful level to a less harmful range of around 141-146 dB. Bunkers are concrete and steel walls and floors so realistically anything your suppressor did in function was undone by you shooting in a place that is going to compress and echo the sound waves :) This should be in bug reports

Ok NONE of you are understanding what i'm saying. I don't have a problem with the sound of the suppressor. I have a problem with the direction of the sound while inside the bunker. If I fire an M1 suppressed I dont have the same issue I am having if I fire a pistol. You cannot tell me that a suppressed 9mm or 45 is louder than a suppressed 30.06.

Sound is not traveling correctly it seems like with suppressed pistols. Or other sounds in the bunker tbh.

There currently seems to be a sound problem in the game, a dev mentioned it in another thread.
I had puppets aggro on me from far away when checking on wrecks which definetey wasn't the case before. Afaik nothing was mentioned about puppets having an increased aggro range on certain sounds so in worst case it is a work in progress since they are currently working on sounds.

yep, I've also noticed ambient sounds and other stuff seems a lot quieter and more 'distant' as well lately (same settings, same volume, less sound)

Definitely get what you're saying OP. Sound traveling through meters of concrete, stone, and dirt to be heard by a giggling menace. The way sound travels, he shouldn't be able to hear it. Everything inside the bunker, yeah. Echo chamber anyone? But the sound would not pierce to the outside. (I say this being a habitual door closer. I NEVER leave a door open unless it's my planned escape from a **** situation.)
I do think there are many sound issues beyond this, but the dev already noted they are working on things. It's an early access game, bugs will exist. Enjoy what we can, work around the rest.

Actually, puppets above your position inside the bunker can even hear when you're searching a cointainer or when another puppet fall into the ground.

Looks to me they haven't set a vertical limit to detection radius.

I've just recently had a flock of puppets screaming above me for just walking and they just knew where I was the entire time, as when I've used those ladder exists they where all circling the door there.

Yes, true. It seems that floor/ceiling/walls do not stop sound and radius is spherical so if it is set to 50mt is in any direction. I'm not sure if it's fixable, not a game developer.

Not annoying, can live with it. No worries about having horde of puppets waiting for me above or below.
But it feels a bad/limited implementation. Hope it will be changed in future.

Should be fixable with occlusion planes

But thats plenty of work and for now, its probably not a huge priority
