Compound bow pound indication
Bought a compound bow from trader. It was saying "#60" pounds in the inventory menu.
No toolbox was used to set it to accordingly to my strength.

Is this the current draw pound?

Because, if so, it is wrong, because I could not draw the bow while this is my current setting when using a toolbox.

Looked like it was #100 instead.

#60 is standard for compound bows, so you'd either have to use a toolbox to set it to your str or you need more str.
Mine got set to #90 on my last try and I can draw no problem, but then my str is at 4.4.

Yeah, it's all about your STR, not sure if skill level of Archery affects how much weight you can draw, but definitely STR. I think Archery skill only affects your accuracy. My chars usually have a STR somewhere between 3.5 and 4.5, and their compound bow draw weights range from around ~80 lbs. to 95 lbs. when adjusted via a toolbox.

The problem I am pointing here, is that the compound is set for a #60 lbs. draw and I can not use it, even if it is my adjusted weight reference.
Seems like a bug then.

Archery level indeed has also a impact on the Bow Ability. You will notice this especially when you level up from 0 to 1.

You can use a #40 with 0 skill and 1 strength, as soon as you level up to Archery 1 you can also use #50 even if your strength still is on 1.

Good to know. I've never been masochistic enough to start out with STR below 3, so news to me.

But adjusting the draw weight of the compound should set it up to a weight that the player is able to pull.
Except the player can only pull 35 pounds, because the compound's lowest setting is 40.

If I understand OP correctly their character can actually pull 60 pounds, just not with the bow bought from the trader.

@OP:
Have you tried adjusting the bow with a tool box?
And if so, what was the value it came up with?

No I did not and died meanwhile. 8/
And you are correct. ;)

Need to perform test in SP with similar settings.

FYI, my character is able to draw and use a #70 lbs. Bow.

Too bad you died and obviously lost that compound bow....

The #70lbs bow you can pull now: Is it a "normal" bow or a compound?
It's some time ago already and it might be fixed meanwhile, but I remember that I once had a character, that was able to pull a normal #60 bow, but not a compound with the same value.

Normal bow.
Indeed, same problem here.

I thought the default draw weight for a compound was 50#?

There are some quirks with the compound bow as it relates to STR and Archery skill.

The Advanced Archery skill will allow you to draw a regular bow much higher than you could with low Strength (<3.0). You can draw the bow, but can not hold the draw for more than a second or two.

If you are in this condition (Adv. Archery and Strength <3.0), when you adjust a compound bow with a toolbox, your Adv. Archery makes the system think you are capable of drawing higher than you are able to pull. So it will give you a 60 or 70# bow which you are not able to draw.

I bought a new compound. Tried again and failed, again.
Too broke for a repair box, LOL
Will perform further tests when possible.
My ST is 2.8 and don't know for archery, closed the game.

it's because your strength is below 3.0

The default draw weight for the compound is indeed #60 (that at least was the value I found every single compound bow so far)

With everything else though, you've quite enlightened me!
Thanks for the clarification.

So, I guess that draw weight thing is something that needs some fix.

But why can I draw a #70 lbs bow?
