I have few touristic backpacks IRL. I dont buy cheap ♥♥♥♥. Offcourse not full waterproof, but to wet them you should walk under heavy rain long time. Water for basically gets into by zippers, and you should watch for zipper covers when buying touristic backpack.

this
I was also irritated by how those realiy high quality looking backpacks tend to get wet and also so fast.
When I buy a backback irl I certainly choose a waterproof one, everything else makes no sence at all especially for hiking backpacks.

Almost all big backpacks have special waterproof bag that goes over backpack for when it rains. In this case it is not wet all day long under rain.

This.
Military backpacks specially the "camo hicking" types are never waterproof, they are made from some kind of deperlant textile wich is suposed to reduce the wetness of the bag itself. But after a while, everything will get wet. I agree on the fact that it gets too wet too quick.

most of them does have a pouch for a waterproof overbag tho. Maybe an idea to dig...

With the shortened day/night cycle..... are things suppose to revolve around it rather than real time? Meaning as the eat/drink mechanic seems to revolve around it, do the other mechanics also....or are they based on real time? Do things get wet quicker, and dry quicker than they would due to the accelerated time?

It would seem the day/night cycle speed should adjust all aspects of other mechanics related to timing. But do they, or will they in the future?

I agree, basically 15 mins of real time = 1 hour of time in game, so if a backpack IRL gets soaked in 1 hour then in game that will be in 15 mins.

Also, when it rains if you remove your clothes and store them in the backpack they too get wet.

When crossing water at thigh height your jacket and backpack also get wet despite not visually touching the water.

This is by design, stuff in your backpack is supposed to become wet as well.
