Car Battery
i have been driving up and down the map to try and charge the battery but have found if your using the lightts it takes forever to charge. if you leave the veichle with the lights on and your outside of it it drains the battery to fast. also if you dont use the car for a few days the battery is dead from half way

Yeah I tend to not even use the headlights at night, as it turns charging to a crawl. Like I'll drive half way across the map and get like 5% charge if the lights are on, I swear, haha.

Are you playing singleplayer? If so, you can change how fast the battery drains and charges.

That is correct, and if you are not playing on official server but on private they might of changed the rate of gain as well.

You dont really have to drive to charge the battery. Even idle it will creep up. Boring way but works. Personally I dont drive with the headlights on at night unless it is storming. It is a huge glaring beacon that screams shoot meee. NVGs or daytime runs are far more friendly to your battery

Or you can also just recharge it with a car battery and other batteries in the game. :)

What about the reverse? I've never found a way to charge dead batteries tbh. Tried with cables and a car, other devices that had battery, etc. Charge option is always greyed out, and Google wasn't much help. It just always directs to car battery charging, haha.

You can charge car batteries with other car batteries, you will need jumper cables, unfortunately, you can't charge car batteries anyway else for now. I might be wrong didn't check in a while but it might be possible to fill it up with other batteries as well (need to double-check that)

Find the ServerSettings.ini file, and this section:

[SCUM.Vehicles]
FuelDrainFromEngineMultiplier=0.5
BatteryDrainFromEngineMultiplier=0.5
BatteryDrainFromDevicesMultiplier=1
BatteryDrainFromInactivityMultiplier=0.01
BatteryChargeWithAlternatorMultiplier=2
BatteryChargeWithDynamoMultiplier=1

Those are my preferred settings. You can adjust further, to taste.

As to 'how do you charge the battery using jumper cables', do you mean charging your vehicle's onboard battery? If so, you don't need cables for that, oddly enough. You only need cables if you're charging from one external car battery to another external car battery. Then, as long as all 3 items are either on you or in your inventory vicinity, you just right-click on the battery you want to charge, select the source you want to charge it from, and there you go.
